BMW 5 Series showcases capabilities, state-of-the-art tech on Austrian glacier
MANILA: BMW brought the new 5 Series to the glaciers of Solden, Austria to test its capability under winter conditions.

Among the driver assistance systems of the BMW 5 Series are Highway Assist, Automatic Lane Change, Lane Control Assist, Distance Control, and Parking Assistant.
Aside from the dynamic driving qualities of the new BMW 5 Series, its artificial intelligence technology and highly automated driving were also highlighted at the test drive.
The latest iteration of the business sedan was launched in October, with two fully electric variants available. It is equipped with innovative digital services for in-car gaming, audio and video streaming, and cutting-edge driver assistance systems.
Those who drive the new BMW 5 Series in Germany can take advantage of the Highway Assistant feature, which allows the driver to take their hands off the steering wheel at speeds of up to 130 kilometers per hour as long as they continuously monitor the traffic and are ready to take over again at any time.
The eight-generation BMW 5 Series also comes with Automatic Lane Change, which is activated by just a glance in the exterior mirror.
Other driver assistance features on the new BMW 5 Series include Lane Control Assist, Distance Control, and Parking Assistant.
In terms of design, the new 5 Series features a modern take on the twin headlights and BMW kidney grille.
Inside, the sedan is equipped with a fully digital display system composed of a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display. Its steering wheel is also designed with a flattened lower section and haptic feedback on the control panels.
Comfort is guaranteed by the newly designed sports seats with a wide range of electrically operated adjustment options. The new 5 Series is also the first BMW to come standard with a fully vegan interior.
The BMW 5 Series also provides optimized connectivity with two 5G mobile phone antennas. The car’s infotainment system can also be connected to a smartphone through Apple Carplay and Android Auto. It can also stay updated with the latest software over the years with the Remote Software Upgrades function.
