BYD Cars PH to officially launch Shark 6 DM-O early next month

MANILA: After teasing its impending arrival in the local market for quite a while already, BYD Cars Philippines — under the distributorship of the Ayala-led ACMobility — has disclosed the official launch date of the all-new Shark 6 DMO (Dual Mode Off-Road).

Based on the invitation sent to Zigwheels Philippines, the electrified pickup truck will see its official local debut on March 7. 

At the event, the marque also shared that it will showcase the new nameplate’s combination of next-generation hybrid power and rugged capability.

The Shark 6 DM-O will join the marque’s growing new energy lineup for the local market. Other electrified nameplates currently sold by BYD include the Seal 5 DM-i and the Sealion 6 DM-i. 

For now, the Chinese car maker’s local arm has yet to share the model’s pricing details, but the reservation period for the said model has already begun. 

No official specifications have been released. So, for now, let’s take a look at the Shark DM-O’s mechanical details, as previously disclosed by the Land Transportation Office and by several sales agents on numerous social media channels.

BYD Shark DM-O: specifications

Per the LTO documents relevant to the BYD Shark DM-O, the model is a plug-in hybrid pickup truck with a length of 5,457 millimeters (mm), a width of 1,971 mm, and a height of 1,925 mm. It also has a wheelbase length of 3,260 mm and a ground clearance of 230 mm. 

Two trims will be made available to the Philippines: the Advanced and the Premium. Based on the brand’s current naming conventions, it can be presumed that the Advanced will be the entry-level variant.

Again, the price of the upcoming model has not been disclosed. However, numerous agents have already estimated that it will hover at around P2.4-P2.7 million.
