CAMPI-TMA sales down by 12% amid membership growth
Year-to-date retail performance nearly breaches 133K-mark
MANILA: Collective sales of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers in the Philippines Incorporated (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) continue to decline for the first four months of 2026—retailing only 132,867 units.

Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) led the segment with 12,368 units sold, while plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) recorded the fastest growth rate.Based on their joint report, two organizations’ April year-to-date retail performance reflected an 11.8-percent slide compared to the same period in 2025, which recorded 150,654 vehicles delivered to customers.
Last month, CAMPI and TMA sold 27,225 vehicles—which is 24.6 percent lower than March 2026’s 36,104-unit sales churn and 18.9-percent less versus the 33,580 units handed over to clients in April 2025.

Continuing to lead the CAMPI-TMA year-to-date sales were models from the commercial vehicle segment—cornering 80.62 percent units after turning over 107,121 vehicles to buyers. While the market share had a slight increase, its sales volume shrank by 10.6 percent from 119,824 in January-April 2026.
On the other hand, passenger car sales dropped by 16.5 percent as models under the segment only handed over 25,746 vehicles to clients in the opening four months of 2026.
In a statement, CAMPI President Jose Maria Atienza said that “while the market has not fully recovered from last year’s second semester slowdown, this was further affected by the oil crisis with customers carefully considering their car purchase.”
CAMPI-TMA Apr. 2026 YTD sales drivers
Maintaining its position at the top of the CAMPI-TMA power rankings as of April 2026 is Toyota Motor Philippines with 66,206 units—cornering a 49.08-percent share of the market. However, its churn is eight percent less than the 71,927 units sold in January-April 2025.
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation continued in keeping the second spot with 24,371 vehicles rolled out to customers (18.34 percent share)—experiencing an 18.1-percent slide year on year.
While it’s a neck-and-neck battle between the local distributors of Suzuki (4.73-percent share) and Nissan (4.01-percent), the former widened the gap for third place, by selling 6,289 units versus the latter’s 5,323.
Ford Motor Company Philippines regained the fifth spot from Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated after selling 4,877 vehicles and the latter going down two places after retailing 4,440 units.

Relatedly, CAMPI’s newest members Geely Motors Philippines and Luxuriant Automotive Group Incorporated (distributor of GWM in the country) reported to the group that they have sold 1,119 and 147 units respectively.
xEV sales continue rise
Strong demand for electrified vehicles (xEV) continued in April as the category enjoyed a 158-percent growth in the initial four months of the year—from 6,820 units sold the previous year to 17,655 in 2026. This represents 13.29 percent share of the overall market.
Driving the up the volume were the models under the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) segment, which sold 12,368 units and taking 70.05-percent share of the local xEV market.
Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) showed the biggest increase in terms of percentage as it grew 2,531 percent year-on-year—with sales reaching 2,579 units as compared to the 98 units sold in January-April 2026.
Year-to-date sales for battery electric vehicle (BEV) as of the previous month were at 2,708 examples—making it the second biggest contributor in xEV sales (15.34 percent share).
“The customers are very much aware of what’s practical during these times thus the increased demand for energy efficient vehicles like xEVs and lower displacement, fuel-efficient Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles,” Atienza explained.
CAMPI is expected to showcase such vehicles at the upcoming Philippine International Motor Show on June 4-7.
