Chevrolet Colorado 2017 Shows its New Face – New Features Added
MANILA: Gone are the times when pick-ups were just for the commercial purpose. If you can rewind the past decade, we have seen some boring pick-ups which were designed keeping the utility factor only and there were hardly any comforting or safety aspects. But, now pick-ups come with advantages and aspects of SUVs and utility of a commercial vehicle just like the previous generations. Also, manufacturers are working more on the safety aspects of these drives. Initially introduced in the year 2004, the Chevrolet Colorado which is currently on offer in the Philippines is in its second generation and meets with the style and needs of its customers. While the 2016 model is available for the Philippines automotive market, the news which is making Chevy more popular today is the global debut of the 2017 version of this highly appealing and robust pick-up which looks more like a sturdy SUV from its front. The upcoming version unveiled during the Agrishow in Brazil, will arrive with some tweaks in style and comfort aspects adding freshness to the 2016 model.
Chevy is keeping itself quite active in the Philippines from past few months after analyzing that it couldn't grab any position in the hierarchy of the top 5 automakers in passenger and commercial cars segment revealed by Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) for the Q1 of the year 2016. So learning from the experience, Chevrolet sailed its Sail 2016 at the Philippine shores during the MIAS 2016 in the first week of April 2016. Since Filipinos are showing their keen interest in pick-ups and the automakers are quite familiar with this blooming trend, Chevy decided to update its Colorado to keep the customers' interest alive. The American manufacturer gave a quick look of the new face of 2017 Colorado during the Bangkok International Motor Show 2016 held in March this year. Guess the manufacturer has found this the right time to unveil it formally and showcased what it has on the offer. Though the details flaunted by the manufacturer are general for the global market and not the Fili-centric model, but this will give us an idea of what we can expect from the 2017 Colorado.
Here we go detailing this swanky pick-up -
Check Out The New Face
Though it's not entirely new but keeping the new stylish headlamps and the expanded radiator grille in mind, it's safe to call it a new face. The grille now looks wider and more appealing than the existing model, which altogether creates a better face for this pick-up. The manufacturer has not revealed if there would be any changes in the overall dimensions, so we are considering it same as the 2016 model. Chevy has added two new colors - Blue Black Gold and Old Blue Eyes colors to the palette of new Colorado.
Revamped Passenger Area
Though there are no major changes given to the cabin in terms of styling but some tweaks and additions make it worthy to be called a facelift. With some added sophistication and refinements, Chevy has presented the new cabin of 2017 Colorado. The major advancement in this area is given in the infotainment facility which has been updated with the Chevy MyLink system compatible to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Adding to this are – wireless smartphone integration, tire pressure monitoring system, Eco function and voice command.
The Power-Mill
Well, there is nothing new in this segment and the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado will appear with the same 2.5-litre and 2.8-litre Duramax engines just like the 2016 Chevy Colorado across its variants. There are speculations about retuning of these engines and if the speculations are true, enhanced efficiency and performance can be expected. Also, seems like the pick-up has been given a crash diet to shed some weight which is again a good news for the customers who are looking for a fuel economical pick-up.
Summary
Though the aforementioned details are not specifically for the Philippines automotive market, but Chevy is known for keeping almost same specs and aspects in its fleet globally, only if they are not voiding any local regulations. The official distributor for Chevrolet Philippines - The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI) has also hinted on the same lines and confirmed that there may be some minor changes but otherwise the 2017 Chevy Colorado would carry the same specs as the newly launched model. Also, an estimation of late 2016 launch for this new Colorado in the Philippines automotive market is spreading like wildfire and we are believing in it. Let's see if Chevy floats any other details about this new version or we have to wait till year end!
