Corolla Nightshade Edition ditches classic chrome for trendy black
MANILA: Some say chrome hits in the eye, while others say it is a classic element and provides your car with a road presence. Anyway, times are changing and so are the demands of the car buyers. Instead of the classic-chrome, more and more people now prefer blacked-out trim pieces on their cars.
And, that's where the automakers are coming up with special black editions of their existing and newer models. With that said, the latest entrant to the club is Toyota, who has just introduced the Corolla Nightshade Edition for the US market.
The special edition for the black lovers comes based on the 2020 Corolla SE and can be availed in both hatchback and sedan form factors. As you would expect from a black-edition car, the Toyota Corolla Nightshade Edition, too, features blacked-trim pieces and elements throughout its exterior.
The front fascia of the Toyota Corolla Nightshade Edition flaunts a blacked-out grille, air-vents, fog-lamp housings, and even the Toyota badge on the sedan model. Moving to the sides, we find that all of the 18-inch alloy wheels, door handles, and rear-view mirrors come dipped in black. At the rear end, there is a black shark-fin antenna, dual-tone bumper, and a black trim that joins the two taillamps. Also, customers can have the hatchback version with a black-out roof as well.
Moving inside the two Corolla Nightshade Editions, we find the setup to be identical to the one found on the SE variant. Toyota, however, insists that there will be all-black upholstery that will go well with the exterior of the car. For the tech-geeks, the 2020 Corolla gets both the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as a part of the standard equipment. Moreover, the 2020 Toyota Corolla Nightshade Edition can be had in either Super White or Classic Silver Metallic finish.
As it is the case with most of the special editions, the changes on the Corolla Nightshade Edition are also limited to the visual elements. Both the sedan and the hatchback models will continue to feature the same set of engine options and a CVT that channels the power to the wheels. We are not too far away from the local launch of the 2020 Toyota Corolla. So, will we get the Nightshade Edition of the Japanese cars? Well, we simply won't.
