European-market Ford Explorer sports electric power, compact size

MANILA: Ford unveiled the all-new Explorer, a daring new model that marries German engineering with edgy American design.

The Ford Explorer, which debuts this 2023, is the first of a string of cutting-edge new electric cars from Ford and paves the way for a total reimagining of the Ford nameplate in Europe. Five passengers may fit in the mid-size crossover's two rows of seats, and it is fully furnished to take families on exciting road trips.

The electric Explorer, which was designed and constructed in Germany, delivers an exceptional digital experience that makes it easier for drivers and passengers to stay connected and at ease while traveling. A SYNC Move super sized movable touchscreen, linked infotainment system, wireless app integration, and advanced driver assistance technology are among the features.

Ford's newest electric car supports exploring the city and beyond thanks to its adventure-ready design and combined storage of 450 liters in five-seat mode. A 15-inch laptop can fit in the 17-liter console between the driver and front-seat passenger, and when combined with the hands-free boot space, a private locker behind the touchscreen, they redefine adventure.

Ford Explorer EV's 'MEB' Platform

The VW Group's electric goals are carried by the exact same "MEB" architecture that the 2023 Ford Explorer employs. The Explorer's 2.7-meter wheelbase is the same as a Volkswagen ID.4. The base model of the Explorer has a 55kWh battery with 168 horsepower and a stated range of 351 kilometers. There is also a larger 82kWh battery with a 540 km range and an increase in power of 282 horsepower. The model with the most power and range is a dual-motor model with a range of up to 490 kilometers. Explorer's larger battery will also charge more quickly thanks to 170kW of power.

Ford Explorer EV Interior 

An ultra-modern interior with premium materials and amenities like contoured sports seats and a sophisticated soundbar more typical of revolutionary concept cars than family automobiles matches the futuristic outward style. All of this is combined with the ability to fast charge from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes and access to 21,000 charging stations across the UK via Ford's Blue Oval Charging Network. Customers of Explorer will have access to more than 500,000 charging stations in 25 nations throughout Europe by the year 2024.

The new electric Explorer is Ford's first electric vehicle to be mass-produced in the new Ford Cologne EV Campus in Germany, leading the company's electric car charge. By 2030, Ford in Europe plans to offer a full line of all-electric passenger cars.

Ford Explorer EV Styling and Features

Ford's famous American SUV is captured in an aerodynamic exterior for the new electric age, which is also characterized by a striking "shield" design in place of a conventional grille.

The Explorer's SYNC Move entertainment system keeps passengers connected while also concealing a private locker storage place for valuables behind a movable 14.6-inch touchscreen that can easily slide up and down to suit the driver. Wireless device charging is included as standard equipment in a container for two big smartphones, and SYNC Move offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Whether at home or on the go, charging can be quick and simple. The best rest stations on the highway may be found with the aid of Explorer. Where possible, charging at home can be planned to take advantage of less expensive electricity and energy tariffs and to give a fully charged battery and a warmed cabin for early starts.

Additionally, Explorer offers a wide range of functions to guarantee that drivers and passengers arrive at their destination feeling as rested and prepared to go as when they left. A driver's seat massager, heated front seats, and a climate control system that lets the driver and front passenger select their own temperature are all comfort-enhancing standard features. With keyless entry as standard and a hands-free power tailgate, owners can access the boot even when their arms are loaded down with sporting equipment by just kicking underneath the rear bumper.

For the first time on a Ford in Europe, advanced driver assistance features include Assisted Lane Change, which allows drivers to change lanes safely and smoothly with the touch of an indicator stalk, and Clear Exit Assist, which alerts drivers to oncoming cyclists before opening doors in congested city centers.
