Geely Motor PH guarantees 'strong' aftersales-related inventory

MANILA: Geely Motor Philippines (GMP) has created a six-month's worth stockpile for its aftersales-related vehicle components.

In a statement, the Chinese automaker’s arm in the country shared that the aforementioned inventory volume has both fast- and slow-moving parts, covering periodic maintenance service and brake components, accessories, chemicals, and lubricants.

Such a move — supported by a high fill rate — is eyed to reduce service delays and guarantee parts availability across the marque’s local network.

“We are actively working to make this level of parts availability the standard across our network, with full implementation expected soon,” Geely Motor Philippines Chief Executive Officer Sylva Yu was quoted as saying. “This enables our service teams to complete more repairs on the first visit and significantly reduce downtime for customers.”

The company claimed that the new operating model improves on its previous approach by eliminating the frustration vehicle owners once faced, when minor repairs often turned into long, drawn-out ordeals as cars sat idle for days or even weeks waiting for part.

“Cutting out layers of paperwork and approval means owners get their cars and their lives back quicker. Geely’s supply chain upgrade is paired with faster warranty processing and greater dealer authority. Warranty claims can now be approved in one day without the head office having to sign off. Dealers are authorized to issue approvals on-site, eliminating administrative delays and reducing vehicle downtime,” the firm explained.

To further strengthen its aftersales support in the country, GMP vowed to conduct “quarterly customer service engagements in partnership with dealers” that will give vehicle assessments, direct consultations with service advisors, and updates on recommended upkeep based on driving conditions.”

Dealers may also introduce new tools or service technologies during these events to keep owners informed of available maintenance options.

Per GMP, its aftersales web includes 30 operational dealers nationwide — each capable to conduct scheduled servicing and complex diagnostics, with increased manpower. This is expected to result in shorter queues during peak periods and improved customer experience.

Such updates are being implemented under GMP’s direct operations model, which was established earlier this year when the brand’s Philippine subsidiary was created. The shift enables faster decision-making, closer dealer coordination, and alignment with global service standards.

“These improvements come with a clear standard for how we operate,” Yu said. “We have set fixed benchmarks for parts availability, repair turnaround, and dealer readiness, and we will track and maintain them as part of our operating discipline.”
