Geely to offer additional, more affordable variants for the Coolray

MANILA: Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), the exclusive local car dealership for Geely recently announced that it will add two new variants to its Geely Coolray after the successful launch of the Geely Sport last September.

The Chinese car brand wants to make their SUV offering more competitive so it can go head to head with other more popular and established subcompact crossovers like the Ford EcoSport, Honda HR-V, Nissan Juke, Kia Seltos, and the Hyundai Kona.

Besides the initial offering of Geely Coolray Sport that carries a price tag of Php 1.2 million, SGAP also added two new, more affordable variants: the 2020 Geely Coolray Comfort and the Coolray Premium.

The Coolray Comfort will be the new entry variant and offers the most basic trims like fabric seats, set of 215 60 R17 tires, halogen headlights and fog lamps, and does not come with tire pressure monitoring system and smart keyless entry. For the new Premium variant, the only difference it has with the Geely Sport is its PVC covered seats, projector halogen headlights, and standard halogen fog lamps.

All 2020 Coolray variants come standard with the same G-power 1.5 3-cylinder Turbocharged with a VVT engine that is capable of delivering 177 Hp of power at 5,500 rpm and 255 Nm of peak torque at 1,500 to 4,000 rpm. All variants are mated to a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission and are all Euro 5 emission compliant.

Besides the top features of the Coolray, standard safety and driver-assist systems that make it a great family car include automatic parking assistant, intelligent cruise control, electronic parking brake and auto hold, blind spot detection function, and 360 degrees panoramic video.

Prices for the new Gelly Coolray offering are as follows:

• Geely Coolray Comfort – Php 978,000
• Geely Coolray Premium – Php 1.088 million
