Here’s what you need to know about the all-new Toyota RAV4
Model now has two trims listed on the DOE website
MANILA: A month after its introduction in Japan, the next-generation Toyota RAV4 now makes it to the list of recognized new energy vehicles (NEV) of the Department of Energy (DOE).
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What variants of the next-gen Toyota RAV4 are listed on the Department of Energy’s certified new energy vehicle (NEV) website?
Variants of the next-gen Toyota RAV4 listed on DOE’s NEV website are the LTD and the ADV.How much horsepower can the upcoming all-new Toyota RAV4 produce?
According to DOE’s website, the upcoming all-new Toyota RAV4 can produce up to 183 horsepower from its internal combustion engine, and 134 hp from its electric motor. The aforementioned also comes after Zigwheels Philippines included the full model change of the RAV4 on its “cars we are excited to see in 2026.” As such, many have been hoping the new model will make it to the Philippine market.
Its inclusion on the DOE’s list, however, further underscores its impending arrival in the country.
On DOE’s dedicated portal for electric vehicles (EV) and hybrids, the Toyota RAV4 actually has two entries. One is for the LTD, and another for the ADV. The latter is interesting since it is the beefier-looking “Adventure” trim with chunkier roof rails, a more square-shaped front fascia, and more substantial-looking bumpers.
Specifications-wise, the two DOE entries for the next-generation Toyota RAV4 are identical. Both use a 2.5-liter gasoline engine paired with an electric motor and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Plus, the model that’s coming to the local market has all-wheel-drive for both trims.
At maximum, the said internal combustion engine can make up to 183 horsepower (hp), while the electric motor can generate an additional 134 hp. The model also has a battery capacity of 1.09 kilowatt-hours (kWh).
Here are the dimensions of the next-generation Toyota RAV4 ADV as listed on the DOE website:
|
Length (in millimeters) |
4,620 |
|
Width (in mm) |
1,880 |
|
Height (in mm) |
1,745 |
|
Gross vehicle weight (in kilograms) |
2,230 |
To note, the next-gen Toyota RAV4 ADV trim is 20 mm longer and 25 mm wider compared to the LTD. It is also 50 mm taller, which either hints at larger wheels or more ground clearance.
For now, the DOE website and Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) have yet to share a full specs list of the next-gen RAV4. Moreover, Toyota’s local arm has yet to disclose the schedule of the model’s launch.
So, while we wait for more details on the next-gen Toyota RAV4 from TMP, let’s check out the specs of the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) model.

Toyota RAV4: Japan market specs, features
In the Land of the Rising Sun, the all-new Toyota RAV4, in its top-spec Gazoo Racing (GR) Sport trim, can produce up to 320 hp. It also has an electronic-only range of up to 150 kilometers (km), and a combined range of 1,350 km.
The Toyota RAV4 LTD (Core in Japan) and ADV listed by DOE have the same output figures in their home country. We are not getting the GR Sport version any time soon, but it has a markedly “spicier” appearance, thanks to its “matrix” grille, front and rear spoilers, and a wider tread.
Inside the Japan-spec next-gen RAV4 is a new-generation infotainment system with a customizable home screen. The aforementioned is paired with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
Per Toyota’s Japanese market website, the said infotainment display has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is also capable of accepting voice commands.
Safety-wise, the JDM model boasts the latest version of the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) suite of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS). The 4.0 version of TSS has technologies such as the emergency driving stop system, sudden acceleration suppression, proactive driving assist, advanced parking assist, and the Arene Software System - among others.
The Arene Software System is developed by Woven By Toyota Incorporated, and it allows for over-the-air updates while supporting TSS 4.0’s more advanced ADAS components.
