Honda Civic Type R gets new aero kit form Mugen

MANILA: Mugen, Honda’s in-house tuning division recently showcased the RC20GT, a new styling kit in its prototype form. The tuner also displayed Mugen Civic Type R Prototype, which is at the same time finer than the RC20GT. It is not the first time that Mugen has introduced a new body kit concept as they showcased the RC20GT for the FK8 Civic Type R last year as well. The kit was launched to make the cooling performance and aerodynamics better, however, the front bumper had a questionable styling. The vehicle’s weight was reduced with the kit as most of the parts were made of carbon fibre.

The in-house tuner has still not spoken much about this Civic Type R’s kit as the development is currently under progress. However, it is expected to take some cues from the previous RC20GT package. The kit will include carbon fibre mirror caps, adjustable rear spoiler, and also the 20-inch Mugen wheels.

The rest of the kit gets a brand new design and has a better appearance with the Civic Type R’s factory lines. Speaking of the front fascia, a new panel and a lip cover the body colored side intakes. The carbon fibre grille is all new with the Mugen badge placed on it. The vented hood is also unique and helps to cool the vehicle’s turbocharged engine.

The body kit also features a new side skirt with the Mugen badges placed on the fenders. As for the rear profile, an aggressive diffuser is provided on the revised bumper. The twin tip exhaust is all new and the taillights of the car boast a different setup too.

There is no news regarding when the kit will be available and its pricing. This is because the kit is still in the development stage and there will be some changes made to the production-ready model.
