Honda unveils ‘Prelude HRC Concept’ at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026

MANILA:  Honda Motor Company Limited has unveiled the HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) Concept model of the Prelude sports car at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026. 

Per the Japanese automaker, it is currently developing “HRC Performance Parts” for the nameplate. The Tokyo-headquartered brand said that the performance parts are being designed exclusively to enhance the driving dynamics of the vehicle by leveraging the technologies and expertise amassed through racing activities. 

HRC upgrades 

According to Honda Motor Company Limited, the concept car is a stock Prelude fitted with HRC components. 

While no specific list of the parts was provided, by looking at the picture, we can make out that it might be sporting the below add-ons: 

• Front lip/diffuser 
• Honeycomb grille 
• Front air vents 
• Side skirts 
• Rear diffuser 
• Rear spoiler 
• Side mirror garnish 
• Wheels
• Brakes 

It is hard to tell if there have been any modifications done to the interior, but if so, we assume that it would come in the form of sporty seats, maybe a sporty steering wheel, and floor mats. 

Honda Civic Type R HRC Concept 

The Honda Civic Type R, too, made an appearance and donned its own HRC upgrades. 

Honda Motor Company Incorporated said that it was built in the pursuit of “ultimate pure sports performance.” 

The Honda Civic Type R HRC Concept is being developed by incorporating HRC technologies and the expertise of its racing drivers. This HRC-spec concept model offers a further refined “joy of driving” unique to Honda honed at the forefront of racing environments.

Other HRC Concepts 

Sport sedans were not the only vehicles to receive the HRC treatment, the company also displayed the following prototypes: 

• Honda CR-V TrailSport HRC Concept
• Honda ZR-V TrailSport HRC Concept
• Honda Vezel TrailSport HRC Concept
• Honda WR-V TrailSport HRC Concept

Another noteworthy display was the Acura Integra Type S. 

Trail line models 

Aside from sport-oriented cars, Honda Motor Company also brought to Tokyo Auto Salon 2026 some vehicles with outdoorsy attitudes. These are the Passport TrailSport Elite and TrailSport HRC Concept. 

Other prototypes 

Finally, Honda Motor Company Limited also showcased some electrified prototypes. 

These are the Civic e:HEV RS Prototype, Super-ONE Prototype, and N-ONE RS Racing Mate Concept.
