Hyundai brings out 5th-gen Tucson

MANILA: Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) has unveiled the fifth-generation Tucson, which has been completely redesigned since the latest version was revealed in late 2020.

In a statement, the Korean automaker said that the all-new model boasts “a bolder and more robust sport utility vehicle (SUV) design and best-in-class spaciousness.”

Sources told Zigwheels Philippines that should Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. decide to introduce this generation to the local market, the earliest possible timeline for its arrival could be next year.

While waiting for the brand’s local arm to announce its possible launch in the country, here are some notable details about the all-new Hyundai Tucson.

Vehicle specifications

On paper, the SUV comes with the following measurements:

Compared to the previous model, the all-new Hyundai Tucson is 60mm longer, 40mm wider, and has a wheelbase that is 30mm longer.

Outside, the vehicle—which is based on the marque’s “Art of Steel” design—expresses the image of a confident next-generation SUV through its futuristic lighting.

It still has H-edge lighting daytime running lights akin to those on the Santa Fe. Its side profile features sharp character lines that match the fenders and rear doors, creating a distinct interplay of light and shadow depending on the direction of the light.

At the back are prism rear lamps with a three-dimensional protruding lens structure that creates a distinct pattern when the lights are illuminated.

Its rugged character is enhanced by its horizontal, slim center tail lamps and vertical rear combination lamps, similar to those at the front, as well as its chunky rear bumper and skid plate.

The all-new Hyundai Tucson is available in five new colors, namely:

• Serenity White Pearl
• Driftwood Grey Matte
• Driftwood Grey Metallic
• Redrock Orange Matte
• Goyo Copper Pearl

Inside, the all-new Hyundai Tucson is outfitted with a seemingly separated upper and lower dashboard, with a large display positioned at the center.

Drivers get a slim display and a double D-cut steering wheel, while space utilization has been enhanced through a hidden palm-rest tray and Luggage AdGear.

Other amenities found in the all-new Hyundai Tucson include:

• Card holder on the side of the driver’s left air vent for convenient storage of frequently used cards
• Dual wireless charging system

The cabin is available in four color options:

• Black Monotone (existing)
• Mud Grey/Dove Grey (new)
• Black/Sand Beige (new)
• Black/Inlay Soil Brown (new)

In terms of space, the all-new Hyundai Tucson offers 1,031mm of second-row headroom, a 29mm improvement compared to its predecessor, and an 83-degree second-row door-opening angle, which is 10 degrees wider than that of the previous version, to improve ease of entry and exit.

In its bid to meet the outdoor needs of its customers, the all-new Hyundai Tucson also has an XRT trim.

To distinguish it from the other variants, the XRT option sports a wide, rectangular exclusive front grille and a wide, bold skid plate at the front, black wheel arches, a forged carbon-inspired pattern, an exclusive rear bumper and skid plate, an XRT emblem, black DLO, and variant-exclusive wheels.

Its cabin is endowed with patterned seats exclusive to the XRT trim and dark metal decor, first- and second-row floor protection mats, and touch-sensitive LED tailgate lamps.
