Kia PH launches Sorento Turbo Hybrid

MANILA: Kia Philippines — under the stewardship of ACMobility — officially launched the Sorento Hybrid Turbo today. 

The latest iteration of the nameplate is touted as a sport utility vehicle that matches the active and dynamic lifestyle of Filipino car buyers.  

On that note here are the specifications of Kia Philippines’ newest offering. 

Exterior 

Outside, the Kia Sorento Turbo Hybrid wears an updated fascia with a front end that closely resembles the Sonet crossover and the Carnival multi-purpose vehicle, which is now also available with a hybrid powertrain. 

Notable is its wide grille with mesh-like latticework. It is framed by a pair of best-in-class four-cube LED headlamps, which are bordered by its LED daytime running lights. 

The lower portion of its grille boasts large horizontal slats and a skid plate. 

On its sides are mirrors with turn signal indicators, chrome-topped door handles, chrome-finished beltline moldings, a roof rack, and set of 19-inch alloy wheels shod in 135/55 series tires. 

At the back, the hybrid powertrain-equipped Kia Sorento gets a rear spoiler with an integrated brake lamp, a standard tailgate, a skid plate, combination taillamps, and a rear window wiper that is neatly tucked under the spoiler. 

Interior 

The cabin of the Kia Sorento Turbo Hybrid is both practical and opulent, showing the potential to capture the interests of many Filipino car buyers. 

First to catch the attention of its occupants are the elegant leather seats, which have decent bolstering and perforation. Not only are they soft to the touch, but they can help keep the driver and the passengers comfortable on both short and long trips thanks to the support provided by the cushion. 

Next, it has a 12.3-inch instrument panel, which displays relevant information in crisp detail. Below are some of the data that can be viewed through the digital panel:

It also gets a similarly-sized infotainment system (12.3 inches) with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Audio is directed to a 12-speaker Bose sound system.

Electric powertrain 

Taking a step towards sustainability, the Kia Sorento Turbo Hybrid is powered by a 1.6-liter gasoline engine paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a lithium-ion battery. 

Complemented by a six-speed automatic transmission, the mid-size sport utility vehicle can generate the below performance figures:

Stopping power comes from disc brakes, front and back. Suspesion-wise, it uses a MacPherson strut and stabilizer combo at the fore while a multi-link setup is fitted at the rear.
