Mazda PH announces special service campaign for 1st-gen Mazda3

MANILA: Mazda Philippines has officially launched a special service campaign for all first-generation (model code BK) Mazda3 units sold in the country. This is in relation with the steering wheel brand emblems that need to be replaced as they may become brittle and fall apart over time, which may cause for them to become projectiles in the event of a driver airbag deployment.

The affected BK-series Mazda3 units were manufactured between 2004 and 2008. These were sold by the previous distributor of Mazda vehicles in the Philippines. Although no injuries have been reported locally due to this issue, Mazda Philippines has nonetheless decided to proceed with the campaign to ensure the safety of Mazda3 owners. Mazda Philippines will cover the cost of labor and parts for the replacement component for the affected Mazda3 units.

Owners of affected units are encouraged to contact any Mazda dealership nationwide to verify if their Mazda3 is included in the Special Service Campaign. The contact details of all authorized dealerships are indicated on the official website of Mazda Philippines (mazda.ph). The part replacement will only take around 45 minutes.

In a statement, Mazda Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Steven Tan said, “Mazda Philippines is committed to ensuring the safety of Mazda owners by providing proactive service and safety campaigns. As soon as we received confirmation of the issue with the Mazda3 units sold by the Mazda Japan, we set in motion the special service campaign process in cooperation with our dealerships. We believe the safety of Mazda owners is paramount and is essential as we ensure the proper and continued operation and service of their vehicles during these trying times.”

Mazda Philippines is also offering an additional 50% discount on BK-series Mazda3 parts in its current inventory. “Due to the age of the BK-series Mazda3, we believe providing easier access to maintenance and replacement parts will benefit our Mazda3 owners and allow them to further enjoy reliable service from their vehicles,” Tan added. The discounted BK-series parts will be available in all Mazda dealerships nationwide.
