MG shows off ‘technological and trendy’ EV models at Shanghai Motor Show

MANILA: MG showcases its range of modern and stylish vehicles through a futuristic booth at the 2021 Shanghai Motor Show that runs from April 21 to 28.

With the theme “Technological and Trendy,” the youthful display features five of the most innovative vehicles that MG has crafted. To represent the brand’s initiatives towards electrification, the exhibit is highlighted by the MG’s electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) offerings. Joining the show is the MG Cyberster EV concept, which boasts an 800-km range. It has the ability to accelerate from standstill to 100 kph in less than three seconds.

The booth also features the MG Linghang PHEV SUV and the new MG 6 PHEV that comes with an upgraded powertrain and racing-inspired driving dynamics.

MG has also been known for its rich racing heritage. Aside from winning the Isle of Man Tourer’s Trophy, MG had also triumphed at the British Touring Car Championship and emerged as the top of its class at the Bonifacio 8-Hour Endurance Challenge held at the Clark International Speedway. One of MG’s most remarkable motorsport achievements is the double win for team and model championships at the 2020 China Touring Championship using an Xpower-tuned MG 6, which is displayed at the 2021 Shanghai Motor Show. Through the MG Xpower online store, car enthusiasts can customize an Xpower MG6 and pit their design on a virtual race track.

The booth also features the MG 5, which is set up in an Instagram-worthy “selfie space” with youthful graffiti-like accents. MG also allows visitors can to take a glimpse of the brand’s history through the “time glasses” that are available at the booth.

Although MG has been in the automotive industry for almost a century, the brand always makes sure that every vehicle produced keeps up with the modern times. MG focuses on its three major brand pillars: globalization, digitalization, and rejuvenation. The brand aims to produce innovative products and services that will be enjoyed for future generations.
