MIAS 2019: Hyundai to preview the Kona Electric
MANILA: At the upcoming MIAS Wired 2020, Filipinos may just get a taste of the Hyundai Kona Electric. Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) has sent an invite that contains the front fascia of the Kona Electric,
albeit in a small proportion. It can be speculated that the South Korean automobile manufacturer will go on to preview the electric crossover at MIAS 2019.
What more the teaser tells us is that Hyundai will organise a series of concerts dubbed as "Rockology" at the MIAS 2019. The image clearly shows a grille-less car dipped in the trademark color of the Kona Electric, which further makes it clear that it is the electric crossover.
There is no information about which music artist or artists will be performing at the concerts, though. The Philippine automobile market already has the Kona with a conventional internal combustion engine, and if Hyundai wants to bring the Kona Electric to the Filipino shores, we will accept it with our arms wide open, won’t we?
The love for crossovers in the Philippines is on the rise, and the Kona Electric is one great offering in the segment with a 0.29 coefficient of drag. Moving to the mechanical bits of the Hyundai Kona Electric, the crossover features a permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor that is capable of delivering 201 hp of maximum power. The electric motor gets its ammunition from a 64 kWh lithium-ion battery that equips the electric crossover with a majestic range of 415 km.
For added comfort and exciting drive experience, the Hyundai Kona Electric gets a multi-link rear suspension along with a special sub-frame for reduced NVH levels. With less than 48 hours to go for the biggest Filipino automobile event of the year to start, we are pretty excited by the news of us to have a glance at the Hyundai Kona Electric, how about you?
