MANILA: Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has previewed the upcoming Outlander plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) at the ongoing 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

Notably, the all-new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is a returnee to the local market as MMPC previously sold the third-generation version some years ago. This fourth-gen version, however, that was displayed at the 10th PIMS received plenty of improvements, ranging from its exterior design and in-cabin amenities to its mechanical bits.

Vehicle specifications
As mentioned above, Mitsubishi’s local arm has yet to disclose the specifications of the upcoming Outlander PHEV. However, the Department of Energy (DOE) has already recognized the electrified crossover, and its entry on the list has an attached spec sheet.
For its powertrain, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV uses a 2.4-liter gasoline engine paired with two electric motors (front and rear). The vehicle’s combustion engine, on its own, can put out 131 horsepower (hp) and 195 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. Its motors, meanwhile, can put out 114 hp and 255 Nm for the front unit, and 134 hp and 195 Nm for the rear unit.
With its dual electric-motor setup, the Outlander PHEV offers all-wheel drive. It also uses a transaxle reduction gearbox and the Mitsubishi Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC). The aforementioned is touted as a multi-drive-mode system that can adjust torque and vehicle dynamics to provide optimal traction across varied driving conditions.

For its interior, the upcoming PHEV model comes with a five-seater layout that was kitted out with power-adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, 12.3-inch digital displays (infotainment and digital gauge), a sunroof, and a triple-zone automatic climate control system.
Other noteworthy amenities available to the said model include, but are not limited to:
- Advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS)
- Power tailgate
- Alternating current (AC) charging port
- Head-up display
- Wireless smartphone charging pad
- Keyless entry
Launch date
As confirmed by MMPC, the upcoming Outlander PHEV will be officially introduced to the Philippine market by August this year. No pricing details for the model were disclosed as well. So, for now, let’s stay tuned.
