MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has brought back the iconic Eclipse nameplate for the third time and turned it into a battery electric vehicle (BEV).

Among the efforts that the two have undertaken are the Mitsubishi Motors supplying Nissan with the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid for North America, the Navara for Oceania, and the Livina for the Philippines, while procuring the Versa Van for the Philippine market from Nissan.
“As a further step, Mitsubishi Motors will receive the all-new Eclipse Sportback from Nissan on an OEM basis for the U.S. and Canadian markets,” the firm added.
Further, MMC noted that it will continue to leverage a range of partnerships to expand its product lineup and accelerate efforts to improve profitability.

While MMC has yet to share pertinent bits of information about the model, it has posted a few photos on the company website.
To give it its own identity, the all-new Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback wears a distinct front and rear bumper design, front grille, headlights and rear combination lamps, rear gate, as well as D-pillars and wheels along the sides.
However, given that it is expected to be a rebadged version of the third-generation Nissan Leaf, the vehicle will likely be equipped with a three-in-one electric powertrain, which integrates an electric motor, inverter, and reducer into a single unit. If the all-new Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback would carry over the battery pack fitted in the all-new Nissan Leaf, then the vehicle will have an all-electric range of 487 kilometers and a 150-kilowatt fast-charging feature.
