Mitsubishi sells 90,000 cars worldwide in Q1 2024

MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has sold a total of 90,261 vehicles globally in the first three months of 2024.

Of the said figure, 35,212 units were sold in Japan while the remaining 55,049 were sold outside of the country. Per the carmaker, its domestic sales grew by 124.6 percent compared to its first-quarter sales in 2023 while its overseas sales grew by 93 percent compared to the same time period last year.

In March alone, Mitsubishi delivered 15,083 cars in Japan and handed over 21,054 automobiles to their customers abroad. This reflected a 126.8 percent increase in its domestic sale and a 97.5 percent increase in its exports year-on-year.

Production-wise, Mitsubishi was able to build some 129,592 vehicles in its plant inside Japan while the company made a total of 132,726 cars from its overseas facilities.

In a previous report, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines (MMPC) sold a total of 81,473 from April 2023 to March 2024 allowing the local arm of the Japanese car brand to take an 18.5 percent market share in the country’s overall automotive industry.

MMPC attributed its increased sales to “a customer-centric approach.”

Some of its sales drivers included the Mitsubishi Mirage, Xpander, and L300. Other offerings from MMPC are the Triton, Montero Sport, and Outlander plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
