MANILA: The Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) still expects a surge in the volume of expressway users this coming Holy Week amid the massive spike of fuel prices.

In NLEX, heavy traffic flow for the northbound lane is expected from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon while for the southbound lane, it will likely begin in Saturday afternoon until morning of April 6.

Other MPTC-managed tollways — such as the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), NLEX Connector, Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEX), Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) — are likely to have the regular number of expressway users for the upcoming holiday,
Despite this, MPTC will be on full alert for the said period.
In line with this, the Manuel Pangilinan-led firm will roll out the “Byaheng Arangkada” motorist assistance program from March 27 to April 6.
Per MPTC, the deployment across its network has been augmented to ensure efficient traffic management, faster incident response, and smoother toll transactions.
The motorist assistance program covers:
- Roadside assistance stations located at key positions
- Medical teams on standby at select stops
- EV charging station and free WI-FI availability at select NLEX and SCTEX Rest and Refuel Stations
- Free towing to the nearest exit for Class (and Class 1M for CCLEX) starting March 27, 6 a.m.
- Round-the-clock customer service support via hotline (1-35000) and the MPT Drivehub app
Further, the firm will also suspend lane closures, maintenance activities, and other roadworks to ensure seamless traffic flow. Traffic teams are also on standby to activate zipper lanes should conditions permit.
