New Toyota Corolla Altis for Thai market features subtle styling tweaks

MANILA: Before the end of 2022, the Toyota Corolla with a "Sporty" design for the Japanese and North American markets underwent a makeover. Markets that now receive the "Prestige" version of the Corolla, including those in Southeast Asia, are now receiving the upgrade. Toyota needs to give the Corolla Altis a well-deserved makeover because it has been around for almost four years.

The Corolla Altis was just given a makeover by Toyota Thailand, and like the Corolla "Sporty" update, the changes are minor. The 2023 improvements mostly concentrate on the grille, front bumpers, and wheel designs when it comes to outward alterations.

The vehicle now gets a refreshed look thanks to Toyota's addition of the Polygon Design to the grille. Again, it takes a trained eye to notice the subtle changes made to the bumpers to accommodate the revised fog light housings. In addition, the headlamp clusters now have new designs with a style that is similar to the Camry model.

There is not much to tell about the inside because it is substantially unaltered for the 2023 model. The Corolla Altis has a distinctive infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connection in Thai-spec vehicles.

The fully digital instrument cluster that distinguishes the GR Sport model, on the other hand, adds a contemporary touch to the driving experience. Toyota claims that the Corolla GR Sport features exclusive steering calibration that is specially designed for this variation in addition to the digital cluster. A bigger stabilizer bar at the back, sportier springs, and stiffer dampers have all been added to the under-chassis to improve it further.

The Corolla Altis from 2023 uses the same engines as the current model for propulsion. These naturally include the typical 1.6-liter engine, and the hybrid model, which continues to use a 1.8-liter engine coupled with an electric motor, is at the top of the list. Toyota Thailand provides the Corolla Altis with these engines in addition to a non-hybrid 1.8-liter option for purists.
