Suzuki Japan recalls Jimny due to a potential fuel leak issue

MANILA: In today’s world, the automobile manufacturers take all the time before they bring their new offerings out in front of the world. There are prototypes, extensive testing sessions, and whatnot! Moreover, the automakers do not even launch their new vehicle in one go. First up there’s the unveiling event, then there is a media drive,

and then the vehicle is finally launched after all the wait, teasers, spy shots, and much more drama. However, even after taking so much of time, the automakers still fail to provide the customers with a trouble-free car. Even months old cars are sometimes recalled due to some minor or major issues.

The elephant in the room today is the 2019 Suzuki Jimny. Yes, the very 4x4 that that has taken the Philippine automobile space by storm. Suzuki however, has hit a rock while driving the ever so popular small-ish 4x4. Around 21,248 units of the 2019 Suzuki Jimny have been recalled due to a potential fuel leakage that can occur because of the failure of the fuel hose inside the engine bay.

Suzuki Jimny Recall

According to Suzuki, the fuel hose moulding on the affected Jimnys may not be as flexible and might end up damaged due to the engine vibrations and high temperatures. As a result, the fuel hose might even break down and cause fuel leakage. Suzuki is set to replace the fuel hoses on the affected vehicles in order to ensure that no breakdown occurs.

Suzuki also mentioned that the models affected were produced between 11 May 2018 and 12 March 2019. Moreover, the serial number of these units range from JB64W-100092 to JB64W-121516. While Suzuki Japan has already issued a recall and will be rectifying the issue on the affected models very soon, we still wait for an official notification from Suzuki Philippines on the matter. There might just be a few Jimnys running on the Philippine roads with a possibility of fuel leakage.
