Suzuki unveils Jimny 5-Door, all-new Fronx SUV at Auto Expo 2023 in India

MANILA: Maruti Suzuki India Limited, a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation in India, has announced the world debut of two SUV models, the all-new Suzuki Jimny 5-Door and the all-new Suzuki Fronx, at the Auto Expo 2023 in Delhi, India.

Maruti Suzuki will offer the all-new Jimny 5-Door and the all-new Fronx starting this year. With these, Maruti Suzuki's SUV lineup will be composed of four models, giving customers more choices in the rapidly expanding SUV market in India.

It is planned to export the Jimny 5-Door and Fronx to markets in Latin America and Africa.

The fourth-generation Suzuki Jimny's production and sales began in Japan in 2018, and exports to regions including Europe and Oceania followed. The Suzuki Jimny has been receiving positive feedback from customers around the world. In November 2020, production of Suzuki Jimny began in India with an exclusive focus on exporting to regions like Latin America and Africa.

The all-new Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is a unique configuration with special rear seats and interior trim applied in the rear space, as well as newly installed rear doors for a five-door design. Just like the three-door Jimny, the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door, like the Jimny 3-Door, will deliver the driving performance that customers expect from a true off-roader. The all-new Suzuki Jimny 5-Door has adopted design and equipment to cater to a wider variety of customers.

Suzuki Jimny 5-Door measures 3,985mm in length, 1,645mm in width, and 1,720mm in height, and has a 2,590mm wheelbase. It is powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission or four-speed automatic transmission.

The all-new Suzuki Fronx, on the other hand, is a new-genre SUV with a compact, easy-to-drive body and a dynamic coupe style. The commanding and dominant presence of an SUV is represented by the large and prominent front grille as well as the front and rear styling that emphasizes expansion to the sides. The dynamic coupe style that slopes towards the rear accentuates a flowing and stretchy proportion. For comfort and convenience, it has adopted cutting-edge technologies including a 360-degree camera, head-up display, wireless charger, and rear-seat air conditioning vents, in addition to a high-quality interior that effectively utilizes available space.

Suzuki Fronx measures 3,995mm in length, 1,765mm in width, and 1,550mm in height, and has a 2,520mm wheelbase. There are two engine variants: 1.0-liter DITC mild hybrid and 1.2-liter petrol equipped with idle start-stop technology. The 1.0-liter engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, while the 1.2-liter engine is paired to a five-speed manual transmission or five-speed Auto Gear Shift (AGS).
