Nissan Terra officially revealed

MANILA: Nissan is heating up the global SUV market with the official announcement of its new player in the field, the Terra. This new SUV has been a topic of discussion amongst the auto critics for its frequent camouflaged appearances, and now as a big surprise, it has finally dropped off its veil.

Revealed first in the left-hand driven country China, Nissan Terra is soon expected to pave its way to the right-hand driven markets. Also, the all-new Terra is expected to arrive at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show, as a part of its first public meetup.

As for now, we only have in hand a few officially released images along with some information from Nissan officials. The rest we are trying to dig by putting the pictures under the microscope. Starting off with what’s known -

First, Nissan has built its new SUV on Ladder-Frame architecture, the same underpinning brands popular pickup Navara.

Second, Terra like its counterparts Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X, Ford Endeavour, and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport holds a three-row, seven-seat layout.

Third, Nissan has taken a lot of designing inspiration for Terra from its ongoing pickup, Navara. Both the cars hold striking similarities, especially in the front domine.

Forth, inside the cabin too the all-new Terra features tech and features reminding of Navara. To the list of carried forward components is included a similar dashboard design, trim variation along with many small things.

Fifth, though Nissan has not given out any information on Terra’s technical front, according to a source, same will be made available in April (that’s somewhere near or during the Beijing Auto Show).

Coming to what we have been able to source from the images, here are a few pointers that’ll help you understand what the all-new Terra has in stock for the SUV market -

• Though Terra is based on Navara, but the car’s design language includes some updated features nowhere to be found on any ongoing Nissan. To the list are added new LED headlights pairing perfectly with a sizeable V-Motion grille giving the car a macho appeal, and wraparound tail lights with a chrome trim joining the two sets.
• With the presence of smart design elements like crisp creases and pronounced wheel arches, Nissan seems to have paid special attention to Terra’s aerodynamic profile
  
  
• Cabin pictures reveal provision of amenities like dual-zone climate control system, touchscreen infotainment system, three-spoke steering wheel with utility mounted controls, coloured digital system, rear aircon vents, and leather upholstery on dash and seats.

Sources close to Nissan reveal that the new SUV will go on sale first in China, probably by spring, followed by other Asian markets. As for now, we are hopeful to see Nissan new SUV in the Philippines before the year-end.
