This limited-edition Toyota GR Supra is kitted out with carbon fiber

MANILA: Toyota recently unveiled a limited-edition version of its  Supra sports car. The 2022 GR Supra A91-CF Edition features a sleek style, high-powered performance, and advanced technology.

Only 600 units of GR Supra A91-CF Edition will be released by Toyota, making it the most exclusive Mark V Supra yet. Unfortunately, the model will be exclusively available in Toyota dealers across North America.

In 2019, racing enthusiasts raved about the arrival of the fifth-generation Supra as it delivered an exceptionally fun driving experience. Like the rest of Supra’s fifth-generation lineup, the A-91 CF Edition offers great handling and g-force-generating power.

The GR Supra is powered by a turbocharged three-liter inline-six engine that generates 382hp and delivers a zero-to-60mph time of just 3.9 seconds. To take this performance formula even further, the A-91 CF Edition comes with any array of carbon-fiber elements, hence the “CF” in its name.

The GR Supra A-91 CF Edition comes with a new carbon fiber splitter, larger canards, and carbon fiber side rockers. The carbon fiber treatment continues on the rear, specifically on the duckbill spoiler and lower canards.

Its aero kit was purposely designed to improve downforce and stability on both city drives and track days. The sports car is also equipped with a set of unique 19-inch wheels with a matte-black texture that matches the matte-gray Phantom paint color. Other available body color options are Absolute Zero White and Nitro Yellow.

The GR Supra A-91 CF Edition gets an aggressive eight-speed Z-F8 transmission with paddle shifters. It also comes with an adaptive variable sport suspension system, an active rear sport differential, front Brembo brakes with red calipers, and an inscribed silver Toyota Supra logo.

The sports car features a red-and-black theme throughout its Alcantara-and-leather-trimmed cabin. It is equipped with 14-way power adjustable, heated, sports seats, leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, and sports pedals.

Every GR Supra produced by Toyota Gazoo Racing is made to defend its crown in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. For the past three years, Toyota Gazoo Racing has taken the championship of what is known as the “Grand Prix of Endurance and Efficiency.”

Toyota Gazoo Racing boosted the output of the Supra’s engine from 335 to 382 hp, which is 14% higher. The torque also increased from 365 lb-ft at 1,600-4,500 rpm to 368 lb-ft at 1,800-5,000 rpm.

To enhance the Supra 3.0’s lateral rigidity, lightweight aluminum braces, front and rear bump stops, and a new damper tuning were added on the chassis. The GR team also updated the programming for the electric power steering (EPS), adaptive variable suspension (AVS), vehicle stability control (VSC), and active differential to achieve optimum stability through quick transitions.

The GR Supra A91-CF Edition is also equipped with premium entertainment features such as a 8.8-inch touchscreen with touchpad control, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility, AM/FM radio, three-month SiriusXM All Access trial, and 500W 12-speaker JBL audio system.

The sports car is also equipped with intelligent safety features including a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, and speed limit information. Toyota also offers a driver’s assist package as an option on the GR Supra A91-CF Edition. It includes dynamic radar cruise control (full speed), blind spot monitor (BSM), rear cross traffic alert (RCTA), and parking sensors with emergency braking function.

The GR Supra A91-CF Edition offers access to Toyota Connected Services which features emergency calling, roadside assistance, remote control lock/ventilation, real-time traffic information, map updates, and Toyota Supra Online.

Every purchase of a 2022 GR Supra also comes with a complimentary one-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association (NASA). Members get to enjoy benefits like participation in the High Performance Driving Event (HPDE) and discounted admission to NASA events. The HPDE program is NASA’s high-performance driving school for licensed drivers in streetcars like the GR Supra. This one-day course includes classroom instruction, on-track driving experience, and opportunities to interact with other sports car enthusiasts.

To give customers an intermediate model between the Toyota 86 and the Supra 3.0, Toyota Gazoo Racing has also introduced the 2021 Supra 2.0. It is powered by a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine with a twin-scroll turbo, direct fuel injection, and continuously variable timing on both the intake and exhaust camshafts. The powertrain generates 225hp at 5,000-6,500 rpm and 295 lb-ft of torque at 1,500 to 4,400 rpm. The Supra 2.0 has the ability to accelerate from a standstill to 60mph in just five seconds.

The pricing for the Toyota GR Supra A91-CF Edition is yet to be announced. It is expected to be rolled out in Toyota dealers across North America this fall.
