Toyota, Lexus PH issue recall orders over faulty parking view assist ECU

MANILA: Several Toyota and Lexus models are being recalled over faulty parking assist electronic control units (ECU).

The latest special service campaign involves 11,760 units equipped with Panoramic View Monitor that display the rearview image.

Based on their separate statements, the Japanese marques’ respective arms said that the rearview image may freeze briefly when reversing after the ignition is turned on, or it may fail to display when the vehicle is restarted within a short time.

Such conditions could increase the risk of an accident while backing up.

Toyota Motor Philippines will notify involved customers through an official notification letter for the reprogramming of the Parking Assist ECU for free.

Involved customers with vehicles included in the service campaign are highly encouraged to immediately set an appointment with any authorized Toyota dealer to perform the necessary repair and prevent problems from occurring.

Customers may also schedule the repair during the Periodic Maintenance appointment if the vehicle is already due or approaching its regular maintenance schedule.
