Toyota to reissue A80 Supra instrument panel

MANILA: Toyota is set to reissue the instrument panel of the A80 Supra this year. 

The sports car’s aforementioned portion will be the latest addition to the growing GR Heritage Parts Project — an initiative to reissue discontinued service parts to help customers keep their vehicles on the road. 

Currently, more than 300 parts for eight vehicle models are being reproduced and reissued under the project.

The GR Heritage Parts Project has prioritized the reproduction and reissue of parts for a car's fundamental operational functions (driving, turning, and stopping) to allow customers to continue driving the cars they have held onto.

In a statement, Toyota said that the instrument panel “faithfully recreates the texture of the original while incorporating modern materials to address durability concerns.”

Although modernized for durability, the panel’s surface features an embossed grain finish, which has been faithfully reproduced, down to the grain orientation, for a natural appearance.

Currently undergoing development, Toyota is eyeing to release the said part in the latter part of the year.

Similar to conventional genuine parts and other GR Heritage Parts, the Toyota A80 Supra’s instrument panel is intended to be available across Japan through GR Garage locations, Toyota dealerships, and JMS outlets, which plan to offer installation services.

Further, the company admitted that the project has yet to fully address numerous customer requests for the reproduction and reissue of interior and exterior parts, such as dashboards, to help keep their beloved cars in the best possible condition. 

“As the project advances, it intends to continue responding to customer requests by striving to reproduce and reissue the parts needed―from functional parts to interior and exterior parts―to help customers keep their beloved cars running longer and in the best possible condition.”
