Updated Ford EcoSport revealed in the US

MANILA: The crossover which is praised in most of the markets has received the much-needed update. Yes, the updated Ford EcoSport has been revealed in its native country, the USA. The Ford EcoSport facelift has received a series of exterior and interior changes with the mid-cycle update. Considering the changes, at the front, the updated EcoSport has received faux skid plates, new design headlamps, fog lamps, front grille, and bumper.

Even the hood has got some subtle changes. The new model also misses the tailgate mounted spare wheel and features a faux skid plate. In the cabin, one will find new instrument panel, dashboard, steering wheel and an 8-inch floating touch screen. The black and orange color combination grants a sporty feel in the higher variant while a grab rail on the dashboard is the new addition . The Ford SYNC 3 infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a high-end 675-watt, 10-speaker sound system which includes B&O Play-branded tweeters and woofers are some of the other additions done to the updated EcoSport.

One can also find a 12-volt power outlet in the front, an 110-volt outlet positioned behind the centre console and another 12-volt outlet for the rear-seat passengers. The engine options include a 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged three-cylinder and 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engines. Both these engines are mated to 6-speed automatic transmission as standard and the 2.0-litre option also gets four-wheel drive system. The engine configuration for other markets is not revealed by the company yet but, it is likely that it will include diesel options as well.

The pricing is also yet to be revealed by the company and with the significant amount of changes, the prices are expected to be on the higher side. The US market will get the new EcoSport in the early 2018 and for the Philippines, we expect it to be launched in 2018 only. Before this, Ford was in the limelight at the SEMA show for its much-acclaimed Mustang and now with updated EcoSport, the brand has again gained some attention.
