Will a Sedan Version Follow the Next-gen Nissan GT-R?
MANILA: The next-gen Nissan GT-R is most likely to arrive in two years and following it would come a four-door sedan version of it, as stated by an insider. While the European brands are offering many high-performance sedans, this Japanese brand must have thought to come up with a Sedan GT-R model so to stay ahead in competition.
Development of next-gen GT-R is already underway but it won't wholly be developed by Nissan's Japanese R&D team. It will be tasked to their North American and European counterparts, as stated by an insider. This decision reflects brand's foreseeing capabilities that both Europe and North America are expected to be very active in motoring culture and therefore will be able to successfully carry the development task of this GT-R model. The subsidiary of Williams F1, Williams Advanced Engineering (WAE) is also helping the company to build the next-gen GT-R.
Further, it is also decided that it will not be branded as Nissan, rather, it would carry the badge of Infiniti, luxury section of Nissan. Engine wise, it is expected that Nissan GT-R and Infiniti GT-R sedan will follow the trend of turbo and be fitted with 3.0-litre turbo V6 hybrid. Whiel the nissan GT-R is expected in 2017, the Infiniti GT-R should be released by 2018
