MANILA: In January, the five-door Suzuki Jimny made its world debut at the Auto Expo 2023 in Delhi, India, and since then, many have been asking whether it will be available here in the Philippines.

According to Autocar India, more than 30% of the five-door Jimnys produced in India are intended for export. The publication also revealed that the Maruti Suzuki plant will produce 100,000 units annually, which equates to at least 30,000 units being sold outside of India.

Will the five-door Jimny be available here?

There is a high chance that the Philippines is on the export list for the five-door Jimny considering that the Philippine-spec three-door Jimny also comes from India. The popularity of Suzuki Jimny in the country can also drive the local executives to bring the five-door model here.

The specs are probably going to be similar to the one offered in India if it does arrive here.

Suzuki Jimny 5-Door design

Measuring 3,985mm long, 1,645mm wide, and 1,720mm tall, the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is a unique configuration with special rear seats and interior trim applied in the rear cargo space, as well as newly installed rear doors for a five-door design. Just like the three-door Jimny, the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door will deliver the driving performance that customers expect from a true off-roader.

Suzuki Jimny 5-Door engine, transmission

The India-spec Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is powered by a 1.5-liter K15B that delivers 104hp and 134Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission or four-speed automatic transmission, depending on the variant.

The Suzuki Jimny 5-Door also comes with a new idle start/stop feature that helps improve fuel economy. It also has a manual transfer case and the Suzuki AllGrip Pro 4WD system, just like the three-door model.

The five-door Jimny’s all-black cabin comes with a large infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, automatic climate control, steering-mounted controls, and power windows.

Suzuki Jimny 5-Door safety features

The five-door Jimny is equipped with six SRS airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with EBD, stability control, hill hold assist, and hill descent control.

With its bigger size, more spacious cabin, and upgraded features, the five-door Jimny will surely be another hit here in the Philippines, just like its three-door model.
