Zigwheels weekly wrap-up: May 26-30

Model launches, updates

Both the local two-wheel and four-wheel sectors made quite a buzz this week thanks to some model launches alongside updated nameplates.

New Hyundai Creta arrives

Hyundai Motor Philippines has updated the Creta crossover. It now has a bolder look and a more intelligent interior.

The South Korean car brand also introduced a new N Line variant for the model, which adds a dash of sportiness to the capable mover.

Hongqi begins sale of EH7, E-HS7

Chinese carmaker Hongqi has begun sales of its EH7 and E-HS7 nameplates.

The two models reflect the brand’s take on electric luxury and were revealed just recently at the Paris Motor Show.

In addition, Hongqi Philippines is also offering six months’ worth of free charging at EVOxCharge stations nationwide, to help ease its customers’ transition to electric mobility.

Lynk & Co Philippines introduced a new variant for the 06 sport utility vehicle (SUV).

The Lynk & Co 06 Origin SE is now touted as the base trim of the nameplate and serves as the entry-level variant for people who want to enjoy the best of what Geely and Volvo have to offer.

Yamaha Motor PH gives Mio Gravis new colors

The Yamaha Mio Gravis earned two new colors thanks to the most recent campaign staged by the local subsidiary of the Japanese motorcycle brand.

Its two new hues are Matte Brown and Dark Gray.

The bike is now marketed as a “sensible choice” for riders who value safety, reliability, and performance.

Various private companies are working hard to help support the growing number of electric vehicles (EV) in the country. That said, we have seen two events where charging stations were championed.

Offering more than just convenient dining and shopping, SM Prime Holdings looks to open around 50 EV charging stations before the year ends.

To date, the property developer has around 131 facilities across malls and offices. In the future, it is targeting to install these chargers on residential communities and leisure estates as well as office developments and convention centers.

ACMobility has opened what is believed to be the fastest EV charging station in the Philippines.

Located in Corinthian Carpark, the company’s new EV charging facility can deliver up to 480 kilowatts of power.

Isuzu posts positive numbers for  Jan.-Apr. 2025

Isuzu Philippines Corporation has sold 1,592 trucks in the first four months of 2025.

The said numbers reinforce the brand’s position as the leading truck marque locally.

According to the most recent report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Incorporated and the Truck Manufacturers Association, Isuzu has cornered 43 percent of the country’s truck market.
