Pros
Potent power
Propelling the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is a 998 cubic-centimeter, four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed transmission with a multi-disc wet clutch.
The said setup makes approximately 193 horsepower and 110 Newton-meters of torque. The former can be boosted to 203 horses with Kawasaki’s RAM Air performance-enhancing intake technology.
Photo from KawasakiPer Kawasaki, the engine was built to balance “stunning power with manageability” and offer “linear power delivery right to its heady peak power.”
“For maximum track-riding efficiency, great care was taken to ensure ideal engine manageability during all parts of the corner: getting off the throttle in corner entry, getting back on the throttle mid-corner, opening the throttle on corner exit,” it wrote.
With the above numbers, would-be owners can enjoy potent power not just on the freeway but also on circuits where they can better experience its performance and put the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R through its paces.
Its capabilities are backed by results with the nameplate carrying Kawasaki riders to seven WorldSBK Championship titles, as mentioned earlier.
Performance-oriented braking, suspension
With race-winning power, it is only fitting to have brakes that match the engine’s performance.
Out of the box, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is fitted with dual semi-floating Brembo disc brakes at the front with a radial-mount, M50 mono-bloc, opposed four-piston Brembo caliper. At the rear is a single disc brake with a single-piston caliper.
These, Kawasaki noted, “deliver next-level braking performance.”
Photo from KawasakiFor its suspension, the motorbike uses an inverted balance-free fork (BFF) at the fore with external compression chamber, compression and rebound damping, spring preload adjustment, and top-out springs.
At the back, it gets a horizontal back-link, balance-free rear cushion (BFRC) gas-charged shock absorber with piggyback reservoir, compression and rebound damping, spring preload adjustment, and a top-out spring.
Combined, the brakes and the suspension system help improve the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R’s riding dynamics.
According to Kawasaki, the BFF and BFRC are “WorldSBK-developed” and “circuit-focused.” As such, they “facilitate front-rear weight transfer and contribute to light handling.”
Aerodynamic design
To take riders to the next level, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is equipped with bodywork developed with aerodynamic performance as a top priority.
It gets a redesigned front cowl with large winglets that — Kawasaki explained — work not only to highlight the machine’s advanced aerodynamic performance but also “effectively generate downforce at high speeds to increase front-end feel for greater cornering confidence.”
Further, its handlebars and foot pegs have been positioned to contribute to an aggressive, circuit-focused riding position. This helps riders minimize drag when tucked behind the windshield going down the straight.
Additionally, the sport bike gets an updated chassis geometry that has been tuned to match the effect of the new winglets. The light-handling chassis contributes to the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R’s “improved rear-wheel traction and enhanced secondary cornering force, which facilitates steering the bike from the rear when track riding.”
Overall, it offers high-speed control, cornering performance, and overall circuit potential.
Other notable features
While the list highlights its track-ready capability, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R also comes with a slew of features that help enhance its owners’ street-riding experience.

- Integrated riding modes
- Electronic cruise control
- Smartphone connectivity
- Full-color thin-film transistor instrument cluster with a gimbal-style lean angle display
Cons
Only one color
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is sold in only one color: Lime Green and Blue.
On that note, riders who have a tendency to lean towards a color of preference will have no other option in terms of paintwork.
Verdict
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is a good pick for people who like to spend their weekends on the track and test their limits as riders, since it is a motorcycle that can keep up with their lifestyle.
It is also one of the more affordable sport bikes on the market with Japanese heritage.
