Love this car and it's worth the wait!
I decided to change cars from a big MPV to this compact and reliable Toyota Raize E-CVT automatic! I was waitlisted for almost a month... perhaps many were ordering the unit. But it was worth the wait and the decision to change to this compact SUV unit. Comfortable, easy to drive, good engine power, compact but spacious for passengers and cargo at the same time. It removes all the unnecessary frills from owning a vehicle. So user-fuel friendly too! It's very much worth the price I paid for.
DesignUp to date design with it's sharp angles and features which catch attention. According to my friends, the Raize is "POGI" or "GWAPO." So true!
ComfortThis vehicle has higher ground clearance compared to my MPV before. BUT, when you enter the cabin to sit, there is no struggle at all in entering and climbing the vehicle to sit. The seat is aligned with one's torso. Good design job, Toyota! Other higher ground clearance vehicles will make anyone struggle to climb and sit or sometimes even use a stepping stool/bar for convenience. The seats are also well made and comfortable and the air-con is very strong. Spacious leg room.
PerformanceRight after I claimed my unit, I decided to drive around the highway, taking a long cut and seeing how this car performs with other vehicles on the road. It is very responsive to drive, there is no engine lag (unlike my previous MPV which seems to lag or takes time to find its gear when put on a stop or semi-stop). I took it on hilly drives as well and it can climb without any difficulty the zig-zag uphill roads I passed through. Take note that I only use ECO-drive Auto-CVT and did not even supplement the engine with Power -S/Manual gears.
SafetyThe car seems well built and the body seems sturdy. There is even traction control which I like since I drive off-road to my farm. The only thing I would have wanted was more air-bags (side/knee/curtain) which they offer to the top of the line Turbo model which Toyota does not provide for the mid-range Raize G, E, and basic E-manual.
Road Trip ExperienceFor the first 1000 km before the first PMS, I'm making it a point to use this car on different kinds of roads and terrain. So far, I'm very impressed since the roads in our area are both hilly/sloping and can be a challenge for cars with weaker engines. I've had a sedan before with a 1.4L engine and it simply has difficulty in doing the uphill climb in our area. But with this Raize, it has no problem at all. Smooth climb all the way.
Buying JourneyI read a lot of reviews first about cars that were on the market and cars that were expected to be on the market. I also made a mental note of what I would like to improve or let-go from my present car. Then I made a reasonable target budget in buying a new car taking into consideration features that I wanted and of course from brands that are reliable. I narrowed my list to about 3 cars and the determining factors were the reliable brand and the features that were priority for me: high ground clearance, compact, fuel-efficient, comfortable ride, safety features. Reading reviews about vehicles also helped a lot to narrow down my choices until I finally decide on the Toyota Raize. And I chose in particular Toyota Raize E-CVT AT because it has a more reasonable cost with the same engine power as the Raize-G. The differences like push start button, the "toys" gadgetry with its colors, settings, tones as well as rear video are not essential to me or worth the P90K difference. I can easily buy a front/back dashcam (recorder at that) at a much lower price. And the toys at the dashcam... well, it's a matter of preference and won't have any impact on the performance of the car. So, I was firm on settling on the Raize E-CVT AT model even as the distributorship was asking me if I could be interested to upgrade to Raize-G instead of waiting for sometime for the unit I wanted.
