Sleek exterior design

At a glance, many will appreciate the sleek exterior design of the VinFast VF 7. It carries the familiar signature front fascia of the Vietnamese brand, combined with mostly smooth side sections with flush door handles, and plenty of deep-cut and sharp angles on its rear end. 

For exterior lighting, the VinFast all-electric crossover features LED headlamps with automatic on/off and automatic levelling. Its headlamps go together with LED daytime running lamps, rear fog lamps, and LED taillights. 

Other noteworthy exterior equipment on the VinFast VF 7 includes a panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, an acoustic-laminated windshield, roof rails, heated rear glass, a power tailgate, and power-folding/adjustable side mirrors. 

Completing the look of the all-electric crossover is a set of 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/45 R20 tires.

Concerning dimensions, the VinFast VF 7 is 4,545 millimeters (mm) long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,635 mm in height. Its wheelbase spans 2,840 mm, and it also has a ground clearance of 190 mm. 

Per the brand, the model boasts a turning radius of 5.65 meters. Its curb weight clocks in at 2,205 kilograms (kg), and its roof also has a maximum load-bearing capacity of 75 kg. 

Loads of creature comforts

As expected from a vehicle of its price range, the VinFast VF 7 offers plenty of creature comforts. And yes, this is a priority for many car buyers nowadays, because one would rather have all the bells and whistles than a Spartan, basic cabin when sitting for hours on end in bumper-to-bumper traffic. 

Inside the VF 7 is a five-seater layout equipped with leather-clad seats and a good amount of soft-touch surfaces. Everyone inside stays cool with a dual-zone automatic climate control system featuring rear vents, a demister, and an air ionizer. For added versatility, its rear passenger section likewise has 60:40 split-folding rear seats. 

At default (rear seats up), the VF 7 can fit up to 537 liters of cargo. Fold down the rear seats, and it provides a maximum cargo capacity of 1,576 liters. 

Regarding driver-oriented features, the VinFast-produced electric vehicle (EV) features a leather flat-bottom steering wheel, a push-to-start button, footwell lamps, keyless entry, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror, among others.  

Handling on-board entertainment and navigation for the VF 7 is a 12.3-inch central touchscreen display. The said screen, which also doubles as its digital gauge cluster, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It also has a built-in navigation system and a live traffic monitor. 

Moreover, the said touchscreen has a driver profile feature with memory settings. In other words, it can save seat position and other preset preferences. 

And apart from its smartphone connectivity features, the model’s display is capable of using electronic SIM cards and can provide WiFi connectivity. It is also touted to support over-the-air updates, web browsing, and voice commands.

Peppy powertrain 

Propelling the top-spec VinFast VF 7 Plus is a dual-motor setup that can generate up to 349 horsepower and 500 Newton-meters of torque. According to the Vietnamese manufacturer, the said output figures enable the VF 7 to reach a top speed of 175 kilometers per hour. 

For its battery, the vehicle (Plus) gets a 75.6-kilowatt-hour (kWh) unit that provides a range of up to 496 kilometers (km), according to the New European Driving Cycle. 

Topping up on range is also done easily thanks to the model’s direct current (DC) fast charging feature. Using this, the VF 7 can increase its state-of-charge from 10-70 percent in just 28.15 minutes. Otherwise, the vehicle also has a slow alternating current (AC) mode of up to 7.4 kilowatts (kW). And like any EV model in the market right now, the VF 7 also has regenerative braking. 

To optimize performance and range, the model offers economy, normal, and sport modes. Navigating slow traffic is also made easier thanks to its creep mode.
