2015 Frankfurt Motor Show: BMW Previews 330e PHEV Details
MANILA: The new BMW 330e is based on the facelifted 3 series and this plug-in hybrid version is likely to debut at the Frankfurt Motor show this month. Under the hood lies a four-cylinder gasoline engine that churns out a maximum power output of 187 PS and the electric motor gives out 89 PS power while the company claims that the total power output of the 330e is 256 PS along with a peak torque of 420 Nm.
BMW claims that the 330e is capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds and can attain a top speed of 140 mph. The new BMW 330e is capable of traveling 22 miles in electric mode with a fully charged battery. The new 3 series plug-in will be more advanced and offer amazing upgradations in the infotainment panel. The panel includes Real Time Traffic Information.
The 330e plug-in is equipped with a powerful lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 7.6 kwh and it takes only 3 hrs to get it fully charged. Like other plug-in hybrid models from Volkswagen and Audi, the 330e will install a compact electric motor with the gearbox integration, allowing flexible all-electric operation as well as gasoline operation. The 330e allows an all-electric top speed of 75 mph and an electronically-limited hybrid with gasoline mode top speed of 140 mph.
More innovations are awaited in this segment and the competition is going to get harder. BMW is ready to make a hit in this segment and produce more low-mpg partial emission vehicles. These vehicles play a vital role in making the environment clean.
