2019 Nissan Navara is out with performance and tech upgrades

MANILA: Pickup trucks have been in high demand ever since the population has started using them as a lifestyle vehicle than a mere goods hauler. The change in the market and mentality have forced automakers to fill their pickups up to the brim with the latest features and tech, just like any hatchback or a sedan.

In order to grab a fair share of the market around the globe, Nissan has updated its popular pickup Navara for 2019. While the looks of the pickup remain more or less the same, the 2019 Navara does come boasting a lot of new technological and performance upgrades.

For starters, there are new 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels with new designs and the LED headlights with black inlays provide the 2019 Nissan Navara with a proper 2019-ish look. Moving to the inside of the Japanese pickup, we see a new eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system that the automaker calls “Nissan Connect”.

Just like any car from the year 2019, the infotainment system on the new Navara is equipped with connectivity features like USB, AUX, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay. There also an app which allows the driver to not only check the fuel level and lock the doors but also to locate the vehicle.

Speaking of the mechanical changes on the 2019 Nissan Navara, the pickup gets a new rear suspension setup which makes it stand 25mm taller at the rear. As Nissan claims, this new suspension also allows the new Navara to carry more load than before. The braking on the pickup is also better than before thanks to disc brakes on all four wheels.

The 2019 Nissan Navara for the European market houses a 2.3-litre turbo-diesel engine in different tunings which produce 163 PS and 190 PS. Unlike before, both engine versions now come equipped with a twin-turbo and are Euro 6d-temp emission standards compliant. All of the intelligent emergency braking, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, and around-view monitor which are part of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite make their way to the newest iteration of Navara.
