2022 will see the arrival of a brand-new Mustang

MANILA: We all wait for Ford to roll out newer avatars of its legendary pony car, don't we? While automakers keep every possible trick to keep its plans confidential, Ford itself has leaked the news that we will witness the seventh-generation Mustang in 2022.

In a recently posted job listing, Ford has, knowingly or unknowingly, spilled the beans regarding the upcoming S650 Mustang that the 2023 model year of the muscle car will make its way out of the production facilities in 2022. And, it is the folks from Mustang6G who found out the breaking news.

Ford posted a job listing looking for a "wind/road noise and air leakage plant vehicle team (PVT) engineer" for its Flat Rock facility in Michigan. The job listing goes on to state that the individual will join a team that will be responsible for the "final sign off on the Ford 2023 Mustang S650 vehicle program before it goes to the customers". We were actually expecting the new Mustang to come out in 2020 itself. However, Ford CEO Jim Hackett was reported to have postponed the launch to 2021, and now with the leak, we shouldn't be expecting to see the seventh-generation Mustang anytime before 2022.

Ford had also announced to reveal a Mustang hybrid in 2020. And, with the year 2020 up & running, let's see when does the American automaker uncovers the Mustang hybrid. Ford delaying the arrival of the S650 Mustang shouldn't come as a surprise, though. The blue oval carmaker traded 72,489 Mustangs in 2019 leaving behind the likes of Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro. With that in place, it's fair to say that there still ample gas left in the S550 that came out back in 2015 and the pony car should roar just as loud as it has been at least till 2022.
