Are we going to see the MG V80 at MIAS 2019?
MANILA: Filipinos already have the Toyota Hiace to serve the purpose of transporting people. Not only that, but the Hiace is also one of the best selling vans out there in the Philippines along with the Hyundai Starex and Nissan NV350 Urvan.
But the growing van market will only allure more competitors and MG Philippines might just be the first of the lot. Already selling like hot cakes in Thailand the V80, this MG van also plays the role of the Maxus V80 in some markets.
With the engine that resides at the front, the MG V80 stands 4,950 mm long, 1,998 mm wide, and 2,132 mm tall. The looks are nothing to boast about as the MG V80 carries the traditional boxy appearance of a van. Something that is interesting is that the V80 features swing-out doors instead of a conventional lift-up tailgate. For ingress and exit, it gets dual-side sliders. On the inside, the MG V80 can accommodate 11 people.
There are no bench seats and the instrument cluster is also in the centre of the dashboard. There are two individuals seats in the second, 3 in the third, and four in the last row. The van also gets multiple air-conditioning vents keeping the passenger cool and calm.
The MG V80 gets its power from a 2.5-litre turbodiesel motor that produces 136 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 330 Nm. Transmission options are a six-speed manual and a six-speed automated manual.
Irrespective of the transmission, the power is delivered to the front wheels. As MG is already present in the Philippines and run by TCCCI, the same corporation that handles Chevrolet, we expect the MG V80 to arrive on the Philippine shores very soon (maybe at MIAS Wired 2020).
However, we might even see Ayala bringing in the van to the Philippines and sells it as the Maxus. Either of the ways it comes, we surely would love to have another good quality van battling it out in the market.
