Ford PH expands Territory Hybrid roster with Platinum variant

MANILA: Ford Philippines added a new variant to the Territory Hybrid lineup. 

Dubbed the Platinum trim, the said designation was previously used only on larger sport utility vehicles (SUV). And for Ford’s electrified small-utility vehicle, the new moniker means “premium styling, refined craftsmanship,” and bolstered driver-assist technologies. 

“We are incredibly proud of the Territory Hybrid and the overwhelming reception it has achieved over the past year. Leveraging on its popularity and appeal to Filipino customers, we are introducing the Territory Hybrid Platinum,” Ford Philippines Retail Product Marketing and Business Growth Director Byron Daquil was quoted as saying. 

“With the Territory Hybrid Platinum, we are bringing a new level of driving sophistication for customers seeking the space, comfort and safety of a family SUV combined with the refinement of a luxury vehicle,” he added.

Sharper looks 

While the newest variant shares much similarities with the rest of its stablemates, its new exterior appointments make it look sharper and somewhat sportier. 

At the fore is a new two-tone bumper and “PLATINUM” lettering on the bonnet. These go well with the “coast-to-coast” LED daytime running lights that, according to the Blue Oval brand’s local wing, creates a bold visual impression and accentuates the vehicle’s width. 

Onto the side are gloss black side mirrors, a blacked-out roof, gloss black roof rails, and a black shark-fin antenna. It rides on a set of new 19-inch wheels shod in 235/50-series Goodyear tires. 

Its rear sports the typical roof-mounted spoiler with an integrated brake lamp, a gloss black rear   bumper garnish, and a power lift gate with the “PLATINUM” badge on it. 

Overall, the new compact SUV has a more premium and distinctive road presence while retaining the design language that defined the Ford Territory Hybrid. 

Plush cabin 

Attention has also been paid to the Ford Territory Hybrid’s interior. New are its “PLATINUM” design-quilted leather seats, ventilated front seats, and illuminated “PLATINUM” scuff plates. 

The driver will be greeted with a multi-functional, flat-bottom steering wheel, swathed with leather. Past it is a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, paired with a 12-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, and voice recognition. 

Meanwhile, occupants can enjoy the cabin’s comfort with its plush seating, dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control system (with smart air filtration system) with dedicated vents for those taking the second row, a two-panel panoramic sunroof, and a wireless charger. 

Further, the Ford Territory Hybrid Platinum is fitted with a 10-speaker Arkamys Soundstage audio system with a 320-watt amplifier and a nine-band equalizer. Per the marque, it has a sophisticated three-dimensional sound algorithm that recreates immersive 5.1 surround sound.  

Audiophiles can customize the sound coverage area for the entire cabin, the driver’s seat or the rear seats, and fine-tune a nine-band equalizer with five professional presets. Moreover, the system also features speed-compensated volume and directional audio safety alerts. 

Yet another highlight of the new model grade is the “digital scent,” which allows drivers to create an ambient scentscape that delivers on a premium experience for the senses. Out of the dealership, the Ford Territory Hybrid Platinum comes with Whispers of Dawn, Velvet Ember, and Verdant Rush scent profiles, with Amber Veil, Azure Oud, and Soul Velocity, available for purchase from the brand’s showrooms.  

Familiar power 

Under the hood is the nameplate’s bread and butter, a 1.5-liter hybrid system paired with a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. Together with a 1.83-kilowatt lithium-ion high-voltage battery, it puts out some 215 horses and 315 Newton-meters of pulling power. 

The Ford Territory Hybrid Platinum clocks in at 19.6 kilometers power liter with a 1,000 kilometers of driving range in one full tank. 

New safety features 

New to the Ford Territory Hybrid is the traffic jam assist and integrated cruise assist. 

The former helps manage speed and keep the vehicle centered in its lane, reducing the need for continuous driver inputs and allowing the driver to focus on the surrounding traffic. Meanwhile, the latter helps manage acceleration and braking while making continuous small steering adjustments to keep the vehicle centered in its lane, making longer journeys more comfortable. 

Introductory pricing 

Ford Philippines is pricing the Territory Hybrid Platinum at P1.655 million for a limited time, which comes with a five-year warranty and a free two-year scheduled service plan.
