Ford small crossover may hit the market sooner than expected
MANILA: In the recent times, the American automaker giant, Ford had released a teaser image of its upcoming model, the next-gen Bronco SUV, which is expected to hit showrooms anytime soon. The new Bronco will be based on the pick-up Ranger’s platform that makes it robust and full of strength from the word go.
Along with that, the automaker hinted at investing time and money on a new unnamed small utility vehicle with off-road styling. Though information about the new crossover hasn’t been surfaced online yet, the automotive fraternity, on the basis of the information shared, assumes it to be the new baby Bronco whose reveal is also not very far.
Amid all this, there is information coming from Reuters, Detroit that the small SUV will be based on the Ford Focus’s platform and it will be revealed in the early part of 2019. Reuters, in their reveal, used citation from Hau Tai Tang, the executive vice president of product development and purchasing at Ford who made an appearance at an investor conference in New York City lately.
If reports are to be believed, the upcoming model will come with rugged, off-road styling just like the Bronco. It is, however, not known as yet if the crossover will be a true off-roader or not? This also means that while sharing its platform with the Focus, the new small SUV will enormously be related to the Ford Kuga and the Escape.
Considering the word around, it is believed that the new Ford crossover will go up against the likes of the Jeep Renegade that is based on the FCA car platform.
This move of introducing another crossover seems viable and makes sense, especially after Ford plans to discontinue sales of the 4-door saloons in the US in favour of small and full-size SUVs.
