GWM Haval H9 enters Mindanao market

MANILA: The Haval H9 has officially made its way to Mindanao, according to  Great Wall Motor (GWM) Philippines.

In a statement, the local arm of Great Wall Motor shared that the seven-seat sport utility vehicle is available in the region through dealer partner Otto Motto Mobility Incorporated. Its launch marks another milestone in the brand’s expansion across the southern Philippines, particularly making the model accessible to customers in Cagayan de Oro and nearby areas.

“With the launch of the GWM Haval H9 in Cagayan de Oro, we are proud to officially bring this premium seven-seater diesel SUV to Mindanao. This milestone reflects our commitment to expanding our reach and delivering globally competitive vehicles to more Filipino families across the country,” said GWM Philippines Brand Head Daximilian Avenido.

Here’s what customers will have with the GWM Haval H9.

Size and exterior features

Launched early this month, the midsize SUV tapes in at:

• Length: 4,950 millimeters (mm)
• Width: 1,976 mm
• Height: 1,930 mm
• Wheelbase: 2,850 mm
• Ground clearance: 220 mm

The model carries a rugged, boxy profile highlighted by round headlamps, squared tail lights, muscular bumpers, a front skid plate, side step boards, and a rear-mounted box-style equipment holder. It also rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and comes with power-folding and adjustable side mirrors.

Interior and technology

Inside, the Haval H9 offers a feature-rich cabin equipped with power-adjustable seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a tilt-and-telescopic steering column. It also gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a dedicated off-road information display.

Handling infotainment duties is a 14.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, paired with an eight-speaker sound system.

Engine and drivetrain

Propelling the SUV is its 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-four diesel engine that has capacity to provide churns of 183 horsepower and 480 Newton-meters of torque. The engine is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Built on a ladder-frame chassis, the Haval H9 comes with a four-wheel-drive system and an “Off-road Expert” mode — as well as the standard drive modes namely Economy, Sport, Normal, Mud, and Sand.

Suspension duties are handled by a front double-wishbone and rear multi-link setup, while disc brakes provide stopping power.

Safety and convenience

In terms of safety, the model is equipped with six airbags, anti-lock braking system, ISOFIX anchors, hill-descent control, hill-start assist, traction control, tire pressure monitoring, and rollover mitigation. In the event of a collision, the vehicle automatically cuts off fuel supply and unlocks its doors.

Additional features include a 360-degree camera, cruise control with off-road mode, rear parking sensors, and an electronic parking brake.

Pricing and warranty

The GWM Haval H9 is offered in Stealth Grey, Iceberg White, and Midnight Black with a suggested retail price of P1.998 million. It comes with a seven-year or 200,000-kilometer warranty, whichever comes first.

However, customers who will purchase the SUV on or before May 31 can avail of a P70,000 introductory discount — bringing the limited-time offer down to P1.928 million.
