Nissan Urvan fleet boosts Valenzuela City emergency response

MANILA: A new fleet of  Nissan Urvan units has strengthened the emergency medical services of Valenzuela City — with 33 vehicles officially deployed as ambulances across its barangays.

According to the local government, the units were formally turned over during the city’s 28th Charter Day celebration on February 14. Each van has been converted into a fully functional ambulance to enhance frontline healthcare and emergency response capabilities.

Equipped for critical response

All 33 ambulances are fitted with essential emergency medical equipment, including:

• Stretcher beds with safety restraints, spinal boards, and trauma kits
• Interior LED medical lighting
• Two-way radio communication systems
• Sirens and high-visibility emergency lights

The vehicles also feature high-roof configurations, allowing paramedics to move comfortably inside while attending to patients during transit.

Likely based on the Urvan Cargo variant

Photos from the turnover suggest that the ambulances are based on the Urvan Cargo variant, identifiable by their steel wheels. On paper, the bone-stock version carried the following specifications:

Dimensions (in millimeters):

• Length: 5,080
• Width: 1,695
• Height: 2,285
• Wheelbase: 2,940
• Ground clearance: 195

Its payload capacity is up to 1,340 kilograms.

Under the hood, the van is powered by a 2.5-liter YD25 diesel engine with a variable turbocharger. The inline four-cylinder, 16-valve, double overhead cam engine produces:

• Maximum output: 127 horsepower
• Peak torque: 356 Newton-meters

Handling and stability are managed by the combination of front disc and rear drum brakes, along with a front torsion bar suspension with stabilizer and a rear rigid axle with leaf springs. The steel wheels, wrapped in radial tires, are typically 15 inches in diameter.

Like other variants in the Urvan lineup, the Cargo trim comes with halogen multi-reflector headlamps with integrated turn signals. It also benefits from select Nissan Intelligent Mobility features such as High Beam Assist and automatic headlight activation.

Based on Nissan Philippines’ website, the Urvan Cargo variant is priced at P1.28 million.

The Valenzuela City’s 33 new ambulances — one turned over to each of the City’s barangay — is expected to further improve response times and expand access to emergency healthcare services for its residents.
