Honda teams up with Citizen for Prelude watch

MANILA: Honda Motor Company Limited has teamed up with Japanese watchmaker Citizen for a special ANA-DIGI (analog-digital) TEMP (temperature) watch in honor of the all–new Prelude.  

The watch is available via the Honda Fun Shop Japan website. 

According to Honda, the timepiece will be produced in limited quantities, specifically 200 for each color variant only (Black, White), for a total planned run of only 400 samples. 

No plans are announced to extend the limited run, with the listing noting that “sales will end once stock runs out.” 

The retro-looking wristwatch is priced at ¥45,000 (tax included) or approximately P16,674.

Watch specs 

The Citizen ANA-DIGI TEMP is a unique model that was introduced in the 1980s. 

As such, it boasts “complications” that were popular in the decade, such as an analog dial that displays the hours, minutes, and seconds. These look like gauges on a dashboard (all complete with screw-like designs, which is a cool touch. You can find the Honda emblem here too. 

At the lower left-hand side is the digital selector for the watch’s various modes, like time, date, alarm, dual time, and stopwatch. Here is where you will see the Citizen branding. Across it sit two LCD screens, with the bottom one displaying the temperature. 

The bottom part of the watch has a honeycomb-like accent with the “HONDA” script written alongside it.

After nearly 50 years, the Citizen ANA-DIGI TEMP, now revived for the all-new Honda Prelude continue to attract many fans with its originality and individuality. While it’s no Seiko Speedtimer and is more like a cousin to the Casio FW91, its character befits the returning sports car nameplate and would look good on those wanting to add the hybrid, two-door coupe to their garage. 

“This model, which attracted attention at the time as an item symbolizing the ‘New Science Era,’ recreates the worldview of the new Prelude, with a design that combines retro and cutting-edge elements,” Honda wrote on the Honda Fun Shop. 

Based on the listing, it appears that the watch will be shipped in a carton box along with what looks like a photo of the all-new Honda Prelude. 

Honda Prelude in PH 

The all-new Honda Prelude has been previewed by Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated (HCPI) at the recent 2025 Honda Fest in Alabang. 

Although HCPI President Rie Miyake did not disclose any information about the upcoming model — which the company described as a “bridge between nostalgic, well-loved heritage and new technology tailored for today’s market” — is said to be powered by a 2.0-liter e:HEV gasoline mated to an electronic continuous variable transmission, according to the data published by the Department of Energy. 

At the time of writing, the all-new Honda Prelude is available for pre-order and has a sticker price of P3.498 million. 

Being touted as an enthusiast’s car and is set to replace the Honda Civic Type R in HCPI’s lineup, it is a highly anticipated nameplate that will make its official debut soon.
