Hyundai Motor PH rolls out next-gen Palisade with hybrid powertrain

MANILA: Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) has officially rolled out the next-generation Palisade. It now boasts a hybrid powertrain and a sharper exterior design. All the while, it boasts an enhanced version of the cushy, family-friendly three-row seating configuration the nameplate is known for.

Exterior

On the outside, the next-gen Hyundai Palisade Hybrid gained a more modern exterior that's made more appealing by a hypermodern front fascia. It wears a large square-shaped grille, flanked by vertically arranged LED daytime running lamps and LED headlamps. 

From the side, the model comes with loads of deep cut character lines that emphasize its wheel arches. Otherwise, it boasts a straight window line, topped by an equally flat roof. Its rear section, meanwhile, reflects the vertical lighting design of the front, featuring a pair of LED taillight bars. 

Other notable exterior features of the vehicle include a roof-mounted rear spoiler, a shark fin antenna, a pair of roof rails, power-folding side mirrors, a power tailgate, a dual power tilting and sliding sunroof, and contrasting silver decorative elements spread all around the vehicle. 

Size-wise, the all-new Hyundai Palisade Hybrid measures 5,080 millimeters (mm) in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,805 mm in height. It also has a wheelbase length of 2,970 mm, and a ground clearance of 187 mm. 

Completing the look of the all-new Hyundai Palisade Hybrid is a set of 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 265/45R21 tires. 

Interior

Inside the next-gen Hyundai Palisade Hybrid is a well-arranged cabin brimming with soft-touch surfaces, complemented by a smattering of wood paneling and silver-colored decorative elements. 

For all seven occupants aboard, the model provides Nappa leather upholstery and a dual-zone automatic air-conditioning system with rear vents.

The first row, on the other hand, was equipped with power-adjustable Relaxation seats with lumbar support, heating and ventilation, as well as a leg rest. Exclusive to the driver is a massage and memory function. The second row also features ventilated power Relaxation seats and sliding adjustability, while the third row offers a 60:40 split-folding and power folding function. 

Other driver-centric equipment available on the Philippine-spec Palisade includes the following:

• Electrochromic and digital rearview mirror
• 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster
• Drive mode selector
• Heads-up display
• Electronic parking brake with auto hold
• Smart key
• Push-to-start button
• Column-mounted gear selector
• Paddle shifters
• Power tilt and telescopic steering column
• Leather steering wheel

For its main infotainment display, the all-new Hyundai-made model was kitted out with a 12.3-inch display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The said screen is linked to a 14-piece Bose speaker set, and it also has Bluetooth connectivity and voice recognition capabilities. 

Topping up devices inside the newly launched ride are two 12-volt accessory outlets, a wireless charging pad (located in the first row), and a total of seven USB ports spread throughout the cabin. 

Safety

The basic safety kit of the next-gen Hyundai Palisade Hybrid for the Philippine market consists of seven airbags, anti-lock braking, stability control, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, trailer stability assist, tire pressure monitoring, ISOFIX, and a multi-collision brake system.

The aforementioned are supported by a suite of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS) consisting of: 

• Smart cruise control with stop and go
• Reverse parking collision avoidance assist
• Lane following assist
• Lane keep assist
• Blind spot collision avoidance assist
• Blind spot monitoring
• Manual speed limit assist
• Rear occupant alert
• 360-degree view monitor

Powertrain

Propelling the all-new Hyundai Palisade Hybrid is a 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired with an electric motor and a battery. In total, the said system can generate up to 329 horsepower (hp) and 422 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

Pricing

The all-new Hyundai Palisade’s sole variant for the local market is the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) Calligraphy AWD. As of its introduction, it retails at P3.98 million. Included with purchase of the model is a five-year, or 200,000 kilometer (km) warranty, whichever comes first. Specific to its high voltage battery is a separate eight-year or 160,000 km warranty. 

Available colors for the Hyundai Palisade Hybrid include Abyss Black Pearl, Ecotronic Gray Pearl, Creamy White Pearl, and Robust Emerald Pearl.
