Jaecoo 7 to make PH debut at MIAS 2024

MANILA: The Jaecoo 7 will make its Philippine debut at the upcoming 2024 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). 

According to the local arm of the Chinese car brand, the Jaecoo 7 (J7) is a “masterful creation dedicated to balancing off-road performance with safety intelligence.”

The Chinese go-anywhere vehicle is touted as a ride that “not only inherits classic off-road robustness but also establishes an unprecedented level of driving safety.”

Steel cocoon 

Per Jaecoo Philippines, its premiere crossover is built like “steel cocoon.” 

Designed and engineered to meet global five-star safety standards, the Jaecoo J7 features an energy-absorbing caged space capsule structure. The said design — the car company pointed out — allows the vehicle to be “lightweight, strong, and generously composed.” 

The said approach, per Jaecoo Philippines, allows the off-roader  to “significantly enhance the energy absorption and support capabilities during various collision scenarios,” resulting in a maintained cabin integrity and minimized occupant injury. 

“The J7's body composition exceeds 80-percent high-strength steel, with a roof compression load capacity of 5.11 and a torsional rigidity of 23,000 Nm/deg (Newton-meters per degree). It can withstand nearly eight tons of pressure without deformation. This formidable structure not only ensures superior overall safety but also enhances driving performance to a certain extent,” Jaecoo Philippines said in a press release. 

Other notable features of the Jaecoo J7 include its large-scale dual impact beams, its integrated composite stamping door frame, and 10 airbags. 

ADAS aplenty

Jaecoo Philippines also revealed that on top of the J7’s “mobile fortress-like” body, it is also equipped with a handful of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS). 

The list of the Jaecoo J7’s robust active safety features include blind spot direction, active emergency braking, door opening warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assist, emergency lane keeping, rear collision warning, traffic sign recognition, and integrated cruise assist. 

Jaecoo Philippines remarked that the J7 is fitted with nearly 20 advanced intelligent driving assistance technologies, which aims to help users promptly respond to various driving situations. 

“Jaecoo’s unwavering commitment is to provide high-quality off-road products. For this, Jaecoo persists in deep independent research, climbing new heights in urban off-road intelligent safety through technological innovation, creating a newer, smarter, and safer off-road experience for users,” the company wrote in a press statement. 

Alongside the Jaecoo J7, the Omoda 5 EV will also make an appearance at the highly-anticipated annual motor show. Both Jaecoo and Omoda are under the Chery automobile brand umbrella.
