Kia Seltos gets 5-star safety rating from ANCAP

MANILA: The surge in the SUV and crossover segment can't be denied. With that said, there is not one automaker who is not trying to benefit from the increasing demand by releasing more and more crossovers and SUVs. Similarly, Kia recently brought out its newest compact SUV in the form of the Seltos. The SUV was introduced after a series of leaks, rumours, and whatnot! Heck, the Kia Seltos was even caught while shooting a commercial. Cars are not cars anymore. They're no less than celebrities, aren't they?

Coming back to today's topic, the Kia Seltos was recently tested at the Australasian New Car Assessment Program. And, to no surprise, the SUV grabbed a perfect 5-star safety rating. Thanks to the presence of high-end and reliable safety equipment like six SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors with 360 view camera, and other advanced safety features like autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist system, lane departure warning, and emergency lane keeping, the 5-star safety rating turned to be an easy feat for the Kia Seltos to achieve.

As far as the scores are concerned, the Kia Seltos scored 8 out of 8 in the side-impact tests and performed remarkably well in frontal-impact tests as well. In the case of adult occupant protection and child occupant protection, the South Korean compact SUV managed to score 85% and 83%, respectively. At last, the Kia Seltos grabbed 70% and 61% in the safety assist test and the pedestrian protection tests apiece.

Kia has also launched the Seltos in the US. The US masses will have five variants to choose from, and the LX, EX, S 2.0L, S 1.6T, and SX models of the Seltos in the US start at US$ 22,000. In recent times, the Kia showed off its newest SUV at the 2019 LA Auto Show. Moreover, the compact SUV was launched in India in August, earlier this year. Following the launch, the Kia Seltos has racked up some good sales figures for the automaker in India. In China, the Kia Seltos is marketed as the "KX3". It won't be a surprise if it attracts huge crowds at the dealerships in China as well.
