Naomi Osaka’s special edition GTR-R to arrive soon

MANILA: Naomi Osaka, the 21-year-old from Chūō-ku, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, is already a Grand Slam victorian. She was appointed as the brand ambassador for Nissan after the young lady became the first Japanese to win US Open women’s singles Grand Slam. As a matter of fact, Naomi uses a Nissan GT-R NISMO as her daily drive.

Nissan, also having its roots from Japan has decided to celebrate the occasion with a special edition of its supersports car, the GT-R. That rhymed, didn’t it? Anyways, the special edition of the GT-R will available in three different finishes namely Midnight Opal, Brilliant White Pearl, and Meteor Flake Black Pearl. Adding to the uniqueness of the car, only a handful of 50 units will be produced. The Nissan GT-R Premium edition grade will serve as the foundation for the special edition of the car’s lineup. A dry carbon rear spoiler will also be one of the special editions on the vehicle.

With the three different exterior finishes, the inside of the car can be had in three distinct combinations too. Naomi herself chose the interior color combinations, said Nissan. The different combinations have been named as Amber Red Leather & Urban Black Front Seat, Tan Leather Interior & Urban Black Front Seat, and Ivory Leather Interior & Urban Black Front Seat.

Mechanically, the exclusive GT-R will continue to house the twin-turbo VR38 motor which is good enough for 565 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 633 Nm. The power delivery will also be handled by the same six-speed dual clutch transmission as on the GT-R Premium and the suspension setup will remain the same too.

Another neat addition will be the golden vin plate on the engine as opposed to the silver plate that is found on the conventional model. Nissan will be revealing the pricing sometime later.
