KEY TAKEAWAYS
How many e-POWER vehicles did Nissan produce as of October 2024?
As of October 2024, Nissan has produced a total of 1.52 million e-POWER vehicles around the world. When did Nissan introduce the first-ever e-POWER vehicle?
Nissan introduced the first-ever e-POWER vehicle back in 2016.To put it into perspective, here is a breakdown of the aforementioned production figure per major market as of the end of October 2024:
- Japan: 1.17 million units
- Europe: 140,000 units
- China: 60,000 units
- Other regions: 150,000 units
According to the Japanese car company, models that utilize the e-POWER system are now sold in 68 markets worldwide. In 2023 alone, 42.6 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in Japan were e-Power - a notable achievement considering that the first-ever e-POWER model was introduced a mere five years prior (2016).
Additionally, the Yokohama-headquartered carmaker has already sold more than 100,000 units of the X-Trail and Qashqai e-POWER variants in Europe as of January 2024. It likewise plans to introduce the said lineup of cars for the US and Canadian markets by the end of 2026.
Meanwhile, Nissan's local arm currently sells the Kicks e-POWER five-seater compact crossover in three variants, with a price ranging from P1.179 million-P1.479 million.
The Philippine-spec version of the Kicks e-POWER can produce up to 134 horsepower and 280 Newton-meters of torque, and it is exempt from the Unified Vehicle Volume Reduction Program (Number coding), which is enforced on the thoroughfares of Metro Manila.
Nissan Motor Philippines Incorporated, however, has previewed the upcoming X-Trail e-POWER at the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show, though its target debut date for the local market is yet to be shared by Nissan Motor Philippines Incorporated.
For the unaware, e-Power is Nissan’s highly advanced engine technology, where an electric motor alone drives a vehicle’s wheels. Its small displacement gasoline internal combustion engine, meanwhile, charges up a battery that supplies power to the aforementioned electric motor.
The result is an electric-vehicle driving experience with instantaneous torque without having to deal with range anxiety.
