Only 500 units of the US-market Land Rover Defender 30th-Anniversary Edition will be made

MANILA: Land Rover has announced a limited-production Defender 30th Anniversary Edition to celebrate the three decades since the Defender's launch in North America. This limited-edition model pays homage to the rugged design and capability of the 1993 Defender 110. This adventure-ready model is offered at select Land Rover dealerships and is limited to just 500 units.

The 1993 Defender 110 was the first Defender vehicle offered in North America, having been introduced in late 1992. The First-Edition Defender 110, hand-built in the renowned Solihull factory in the United Kingdom, was highly sought after by collectors, with just over 500 units built. The safari roll-over protection system, ladder and roof rack, and heated windshield for extreme weather conditions were all included in the First Edition. The 1993 Defender 110 has embodied the capability and classic design that Land Rover vehicle owners and enthusiasts have admired.

In a statement, Jaguar Land Rover North America President and Chief Executive Officer Joe Eberhardt said, “The Defender 30th-Anniversary Edition is a modern classic which pays homage to the heritage of 1993 Defender 110 First Edition. This edition celebrates the Defender model legacy here in North America, while offering technology and features that the adventurers of today expect in a new vehicle.”

The Defender 30th-Anniversary Edition keeps the original's look and adventure-ready specs while adopting cutting-edge technology. The Defender 110 P300 S model in Fuji White will be used for the 30th Edition. The aesthetic homage will be completed by Ebony grained leather seat facings, Cross Car Beam in White Powdercoat Brushed Finish, and 18-inch Gloss White Steel Wheels. Each of the 500 Editions produced will include a heritage-inspired exterior emblem on the rear tailgate.

The 30th-Anniversary Edition is packed with all-terrain focused equipment similar to those featured on the original, paying tribute to Land Rover's legendary capability. Among these features are an Expedition Roof Rack, Front and Rear Classic Mud Flaps, Rubber Mats and Fixed Side Steps, Deployable Ladder, Wheel Arch Extensions, and an A Frame. It also comes with modern conveniences such as a Cold Climate Pack, Tow Pack, Black Exterior Pack, and Off-Road Pack.

Since 1993, adventure technology has evolved significantly, and the 30th Anniversary Edition includes numerous innovative features, including front fog lamps, premium LED headlights, and air suspension. The 30th-Anniversary Edition also comes with an Activity Key, which is worn like a watch and allows the owner to keep the vehicle's keys safe and dry while participating in water-related activities. For maximum comfort, the vehicle's interior features a three-zone climate control system, an air quality sensor, and cabin air ionization.

The 2023 Defender 30th Anniversary Edition starts at US$75,000 and is available at select Land Rover dealerships in the US.
