Report: Toyota to unveil all-new Wigo in March

MANILA: Indonesian motoring site Otodriver reported that Toyota will launch the next-generation Wigo as early as March 2023.

The Toyota Wigo has been one of the Japanese carmaker’s best-selling models in the Philippines. Although it is Toyota’ lowest-cost model, the Wigo is definitely not low in standards. Perfect for first-time car buyers and young professionals, Toyota Wigo is a five-seater that remains to be a crowd favorite among entry-level hatchbacks.

According to Otodriver, the new Toyota Wigo will be based on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform, which is also used in Toyota Avanza and Toyota Raize, but of course, it will be shortened for the Wigo.

The new Toyota Wigo may still come with the 1.0-liter naturally aspirated engine similar to the current generation, but there is also a possibility that it will be equipped with the 1.2-liter engine found in Toyota Raize G. Another possible engine option is a turbocharged 1.0-liter.

Since it is anticipated to be unveiled in Indonesia, we are hoping that the new Toyota Wigo will arrive in the Philippines shortly after.
